dog or cat wee on tiled kitchen floor

How do I get rid of the smell of cat or dog wee from my limestone floor? I have tried Dettox, not recommended I know, but DH says it still smells. (I have no sense of smell unfortunately). What else should I try?

Might bicarb work? I use that to get the smell out of baskets and carpets etc.

Shamelessly tagging on here. My neighbours cat keeps weeing on my driveway, by the garage door and it stinks - I have tried everything I can think of & can't get rid of the smell :(

I have always used biological washing powder and vinegar as it breaks down the enzymes ...seems to work :) makes my house sound like a Pet toilet !!!!

Thanks for responses. You can't use anything too acidic on stone floors, unfortunately, so not sure about vinegar.

I used a steamer on our tiled floor and it got rid of the smell

I'd suggest getting DH to clean it as he is the precious one... seriously, unless your floor is way too porous to be practical in a kitchen anyway, if you haven't missed any (chair legs? door mat?...) it should be fine with a quick mop up and some airing. Does DH like the animals in general?

Yeah - I mean, how precious not wanting your kitchen floor to smell like cat wee, seriously, he just needs to get used to Eau Cattery.

How rude to suggest because he can still smell the cat wee & objects to smelling it in the kitchen that he mustn't like the cats.

I love my neighbours cats, I don't have any problem with them at all, they spend a lot of time in my house (which she is happy with). I am not in the slightest bit annoyed that they have wee'd where they have, I'd just like to get rid of the smell and discourage them from doing it right there. So, I must be extremely precious minding the smell outside

He is actually quite precious, and doesn't believe me when I say I can't smell it. It probably does smell, because DD has commented on it too. And he likes the animals, but considers them my responsibility because I wanted to get a dog and he didn't.

I have been told that Vodka gets rid of the wee smell (my boss has a puppy). I'm hiding the Absolut, but it might be worth a bottle of tesco value?

Have you let it absolutely fully dry?

Sometimes the smell lingers while it's still damp or with repeated dampening,but disappears (or at least diminishes) when fully dry.

My little fluffy visitors are moving in a month or so :( so if I haven't fixed it by then I might try some very very cheap vodka. Thanks for that suggestion. (Mine is outside, so no bloody chance of it drying out!!)
