How to clean glass saucepan lid that has gone cloudy in dishwasher

Title says it all really! Stainless steel Meyer saucepans with glass topped lid that have been ruined in dishwasher. Any ideas how to de-cloud them?

I honestly don't believe you can.

You could try limescale remover

A quick google says you aren't using enough detergent, rinse aid and the was isn't hot enough.

You need to soak glass in vinegar got half an hour, rinse with cold water and buff.

Soak in vinegar.

It sounds like the lacquer on the glass has cracked and you get that cloudy effect then.

You can buy replacement sauce pan lids though.

I tried soaking a lid in diluted vinegar while I was at work. No luck. I think its etched - not dishwasher residual...

yep I tried the vinegar....didn't work.
Also descaled kettle yesterday so tried some descaler on saucepan lid too.....didn't work.

I am pretty sure the glass surface has been eroded by the hot caustic detergent, so cannot be restored.

some glass is more easily attacked, it might be that the heat-resistant lids are of a glass that is prone to this damage, or maybe they just go into dishwashers more often than wine glasses.

If anywhere would have the answer it was here! I still cannot get over the amazing trick of rubbing olive oil to get sticky adhesive marks off of glass etc. love it!

Also, painted my front door a couple of weeks back and one of your old posts over in DIY PigletJohn taught me the smear of Vaseline round the edge so I could shut it that night. Brilliant! thank you. Have also used Vaseline on our "sticking" bedroom door so that I can creep out to the bathroom like a silent ninja in the morning without instantly waking DS2.
