My 12 year old one recently 'departed'

New one is crap, not found one like my old one yet.

EBearhug · 03/10/2013 23:42

Mine's about 8 years, but to be fair, it doesn't get anything like the amount of use it ought to.

VerySmallSqueak · 03/10/2013 23:52

Mine disappeared several months ago.

There's always something more interesting to spend money on than a new one,and after all, floors are for walking on....

We treated ourselves to a new one this summer when we moved in. The mop head is really what needs replacing. I don't see anything wrong with an old handle.

DH bought mine for Valentines Day this year! I wash it in the machine every couple of months along with the sweeping brush head and the little dustpan sets and the filter from the Hetty Hoover.

I just replace the mop head occasionally, not the whole mop. I replaced the head when we moved house this year, so 8 months ago.

When my sponge mop is no longer any good for indoors, I then use it for the windows outside.

WowOoo · 04/10/2013 17:21

Does it still do the job properly?

Mine is ancient and a bit tatty from all the bleach and disinfectant it's been dipped in over the years. It must be about 10 years old.

ceres · 04/10/2013 17:53

mine is about five years old. it is like an old fashioned string mop but with microfibre strips instead of strings. and the bit that screws to the handle is plastic, not metal.

I have two heads and each time I mop the floors the mop head gets bunged in the washing machine.

it looks like it will last another few years.

Wow, my mop is replaced every 4 - 6 weeks. I use the very old fashioned type with the stringy head on it from home bargains. Theyre only £1.50 so im happy to replace it fairly often.
