Food bin bags

Can you buy large food bin bags for the larger recycling food bin?

Also how can I stop maggots getting in the large bin? It's not even hot.

I've never seen the larger bags (although that's not to say they aren't available anywhere).

I got fed up of stinky liquid seeping through the bags and attracting maggots in the bigger bin, so I now double bag whenever I remove a bag from the caddy to put in the bigger bin. Probably not the most cost effective way of doing it, but seems to have worked.

It's mad isn't it? I never had this problem with maggots when I used bin bags (unless it was incredibly hot).

And the smell of the food bin just before bin day is disgusting!

I picked up some in M&S (what was I thinking?) which were rather large. I'm on the lookout for much smaller bags for the worktop bin it all goes in first. Lidl did some good ones but havent seen them for a while. Must get out more if obsessing about compost bags Grin

I get the small ones from Sainsburys but I'll pop to M and S, thanks.

This is so thrilling isn't it! Grin

I'm with Hercy- never had the problem since started to double-bag (and Tesco cheapest are fine). If there's no air supply to/from bags, flies won't smell waste and will be unable to get in to lay eggs (which of course, is where bluebottles come from...) Bins no longer smell, but just in case, in hot weather, I sprinkle in powder from Neutradol, about £1 for 400gr).
