How to store your not-yet-dirty clothes?

I'm fed up of seeing clothes all over the house. Clothes that have been worn once or twice, aren't dirty enough to wash yet, but get dumped on the floor in every room by DC (x3), by DH...and me Blush

Yesterday I spent a good hour going into each bedroom picking up clothes off the floor, sniffing then folding up... and then putting back on the floor! My DD (5yo) is the worst offender who often has several wardrobe changes a day Hmm

Where do you put your not-yet-dirty clothes? Do you have an organised system?

Please send ideas this way!!Thanks

I have a couple of spare hangers at one end of each wardrobe where I hang all the not-yet-dirty clothes. And then I make sure that this is the first place I go to to get myself or ds dressed so they are used asap!

DC's lie on the bottom of their beds, mine and DH gets chucked over the stair banister outside the bedroom.

Sweetsandchocolate · 01/10/2013 14:15

Whethergirl that's a fab idea. I can do that with mine and DH clothes.

Yoni, DC school clothes end up on the banister, airing for school the next day. It's what banisters are made for!

On hangers, hung on the curtain pole for the day to air. Window is usually open.

Back in wardrobe.

anniepanniepears · 01/10/2013 18:02

I hang mine on an over door hanger behind my bedroom door

ErrolTheDragon · 01/10/2013 18:05

Mine - on hangers on wardrobe door knob. DHs on floor till I pick them up and do likewise or put on a chair in the bedroomHmm. DDs on top of the dolls house that's still in her bedroom.

I don't like the idea of putting clothes that have been worn back in the wardrobe.

Arrrggghhh! This is a pet peeve of mine!

My rule is: it's either dirty enough to need washing, in which case it should be in the basket, or it's clean enough to wear again, in which case it should be folded or on a hanger and back in the wardrobe.

There is no in-between!

MousyMouse · 01/10/2013 18:20

the dc have squishy laundry/gardening type baskets. they fit under their beds so are out of the way (and sight).

NellysKnickers · 01/10/2013 18:39

Mine hang on hangers on curtain rail in front of open window then either back in wardrobe or worn again next day. Dcs folded and worn next day, very rare, usually filthy. Dh just slings his on the floor beside the bed, I have been known to kick them under the bed as it gives me the rage!

UniS · 01/10/2013 18:47

DS's stuff gets filed on top of his chest of drawers. DH and I file them on the floor.

Vivacia · 01/10/2013 19:02

Kind of rolled up in a ball at the foot of the wardrobe. However, if I'm not in such a tidy frame of mind, on a chair in the bedroom.

whethergirl · 01/10/2013 21:52

ErrolTheDragon i know what you mean about not liking the idea of used clothes back in the wardrobe, but I guess it depends what you class as not-yet-dirty clothes. Anything I've worn on public transport for example, will go straight in the dirties. However, if I've worn something in the house only and only popped out to do the school run, then they are allowed to be on a special hanger in the wardrobe!

I love my cardigans so there are loads of those that have been worn in the wardrobe as they don't need to be washed every time.

starfishmummy · 01/10/2013 21:55

Bedroom chair.

valiumredhead · 01/10/2013 21:57

Bedroom chair.

alemci · 01/10/2013 22:32
