Breadmakers - mine's a goner, isn't it? :-(

It's a Morphy Richards and I have had it for 5 years, I think.

It has been making A Noise for a little while when kneading and today when I took a bread out I noticed that the base of the paddles seems to have been rubbing against the bottom of the tin. That would imply that the turning pin you stick the paddle on is no longer perfectly straight, yes?
And I don't suppose there is anything one could do about it, is there?

Anybody with a similar experience? Did you repair? Or get rid? Sad

Same problem. Gone back to making bread by hand.

Oh no, I cannot make bread by hand - I always forget to come back after the appropriate rising time. Or I am at work. Or something else happens.

My properly handbaked loafs have all been bricks Blush

What is the average lifespan of a breadmachine?

5 years sounds about right if you have been using it several times a week. We replaced ours, but if the tin/paddle are the only things that are wrong then they might be replaceable.

If its one of these then its probably not worth getting a new paddle and tin compared to the cost of a new breadmaker.

Oh, thanks for that link, MinesAPint - I think this is what I need.
I need to go and check my model nr.

I shall not be tempted to buy a new machine, no siree a Kenwood

In the reviews for that pan and paddles there are people talking about their 10 and 15 year old breadmakers Shock.
Darn, I was getting all excited about the prospect of a new one
