Without fancy kitchen pull out fittings that cost £££ That is!! I regularly tidy and before I know it it's in a heap and I can't find any matching lids. Then I am on my hands and knees pulling it out. Then my toddler and baby get involved...you have got the picture!!

De-clutter. Pare it back to what you need when your DC are napping or down for the night.

I have four pans, that I stack, with their lids next to them on one shelf of a cupboard, with a casserole pot behind them. My frying pan and wok live on the hob.

I keep three tupperware boxes stacked on top of their lids. Next to that, I keep a round tupperware, a lunch box and two small round containers, stacked.

I can't get rid because I do actually use mine at points. (freezing fruit from garden/huge baking sessions)
I have a large Tupperware which has all the lids stacked in it, I then stack empty pots inside each other (usually square/rectangular/ round stacks) it's not perfect but it helps.
I have all my cake tins stacked on their sides in a basket in the cupboard & chopping boards / baking trays in a letter filing thing a bit like [[

We have a large cupboard with all pots and plastic containers, as well as some Pyrex. We put one of these at one end of the cupboard, width-wise as it's length is a similar width to the cupboard. We do like wonky - I stack all of the pots into each other and put on the top shelf, and the lids are stacked underneath the shelves. I also put other small pots and Pyrex on here. Then in the rest of the cupboard I have the big pots and pans and stack smaller into large of similar shapes - our saucepans all fit into each other, then big wok-type pan, in which goes the large frying pan then the smaller. Then the pressure cooker has all of lids on top of it. They're arranged so they all fit and are easy enough to get to. I find taking the extra 10 seconds to neatly lift out, put stuff back into stack and vice versa when putting away keeps it very tidy (I mention this as DH has on occasion attempted to just stick things back in there and that's when it gets crazy!).

Meant to say, I stack all of the plastic containers as wonky mentioned and then put them on the shelf.

Same - and as soon as I organise my cupboard a (teen) DD or a DH comes long and disorganises it for me. It's a losing battle.

Plastic box from Ikea that fits the space in the cupboard rather than loose boxes on the shelves. In lids stacked to one side. Clear them out regularly and broken or discoloured ones in the bin!

I have just had a big sort out of my plastic bits. Be ruthless OP only keep the essentials.

NotGoodNotBad · 27/09/2013 21:31

For the plastic tubs, if you can afford it, chuck them all out and get a set which will sit inside each other (for space) with lids the same size (for simplicity) e.g. these.

NoComet · 27/09/2013 21:31

Only plastic ice cream and takeaway boxes of the same sort that will stack and posh klip lock boxes have been kept.

Randoms and things without lids or lids without bottoms have been binned and a plastic crate has been purchased, so this lot can now slide neatly in and out the shelf not rain on the floor.

Pyrex and pans, however are still precariously shoved on shelves. I have one too many frying pans and it wrecks the system.

FreeButtonBee · 27/09/2013 21:36

All my Tupperware is stacked in a cardboard box. It means that I can lift the whole box out to put stuff away/ find the bit I'm looking for without the whole thing toppling down.

Pots and pans - I have 5 saucepans (a set of 4 plus a small non stick milk pan), 1 stock pot and 1 lidded casserole. Then 1 wok, one griddle and one frying pan. So there's not really enough to get messy. Oh, I have one stove top steamer as well.
