Wall mounted tables - does anyone have one? Would you recommend them?

We are moving our girls into the same bedroom and trying to fit the furniture into one room. We are planning to have bunk beds and would like them to have 2 desks each but I would like to maximise the floor space they have so thought 2 wall mounted tables would good. We could then have shelves on the walls where they can put their books etc. My husband really wants 2 proper desks- which there is room for - but it will make a fairly small double bedroom even smaller. He has concerns that a fold down table will be of poor quality. What do you think? Does anyone have fold down wall mounted tables and if yes where did you get them? Thanks.

There was one designed into our tiny kitchen, years ago, which was excellent, as I remember. I'd ask a joiner for a quote, but remember they';d probably stay behind if/when you move, and that desks would give you more versatile storage space. How old are the DDs, and what do they think?

Ikea do them and I've used one for the kid's playroom exactly for your reasons. We moved and took the table and now it lives in the small kitchen in the granny annex. Easy to put up and stable as long as you use the correct plugs / screws for the type of wall. They do it in several finishes, so you can probably get one to match their furniture.

I think they probably wouldn't fold them up anyway! They wouldn't be able to leave any projects out. Why do they need 2 each?

Thanks for your responses. I will look at the IKEA website. They are 6 and 3.6 and the plan is for them to have 1 desk/table each. I was hoping to put what needed to be stored in shelves on the walls.

lightningstrikes - Did you find that you had to be careful not to put on the table things which were too heavy? Also, did the children remember to put them up after using them?

The table was sturdy and I would not have been concerned about heavy things - like I said it is now used in a kitchen - so soup pots ect. I wouldn't let the children climb on them though! No, the kids were too little to be putting it up and down themselves and I didn't want them doing it TBH. I thought it was great in terms of size and sturdiness for general kids use.

I've got the wooden ikea one under the window in the bedroom. rarely folded but clear floor underneath v. pleasant and can be folded. There is also a metal one that is nice.

Thanks NotDead. Do you try to limit how much you put on the table or does it seem sturdy enough to support quite a bit of weight?
