i am worried that if there are 2 then there will be a whole family and babies and that means nappies, broken nights again. I am not sure I could go through that

I caught a mouse in a "humane" trap once but it had been in the trap all day when I was at work.

It was dead when I tried to release it. I can only assume that it died of suffocation, fright or hunger. More humane in the ones that go SNAP I reckon!

you get glue traps in england too, they're not that good, and sometimes the mice in desperation gnaw off limbs to escape......

QueenBeety · 25/06/2006 10:43

glue traps..perfect will get the pritt stcik out

OP posts:
fattiemumma · 25/06/2006 10:48

you can buy these glue traps....not sure i like the idea of waking up to a foot in glue but no mouse though.

tbh i think that the old fashioned snappy ones are best. i think its over before they realise whats happened and at least its quick.

either that or borrow a cat for a day or so. it probablyw ont catch it but will scare teh mouse into moving next door

QueenBeety · 25/06/2006 10:58

i will call pest control onMonday and see wht they think!

OP posts:
southeastastra · 25/06/2006 11:03

try a humane trap they are so easy to use! pest control will probably bring all sorts of horrible poisons, not something you need with children about. the trap has wire across the back, like a rabbit hutch type wire. no way could it suffocate.

SecurMummy · 25/06/2006 11:06

Remember realising we had mice when I was little - we discovered it when Mum asked me what were the little black things I had put on my cornflakes.....

Luckily I hadn't eaten any - but Dad had got up at 5am for work and eaten brekfast in the dark....

IMO - it doesn't really matter how you choose to get rid as long as you make sure it is quick and effective

southeastastra · 25/06/2006 11:12

btw i found a nest in the garden, but they scarpered when i disturbed it, haven't seen them since, (2 years ago). they were under an empty hutch i had in the garden that was directly on the earth. so look in your garden for anything like that they could nest in. imo they are harmless

QueenBeety · 25/06/2006 11:15

i have the top of a grand piano in my living room that has been ina barn for a year or so. i think perhaps they afre comoing from there. I will get dh to move it to the barn.

Bear in mind beety that mice only need a hole the size of a pencil to get in so once you have got rid of them you need to go round your house and seal up any hole you find or they will be back

QueenBeety · 25/06/2006 11:20

i live in a hundred year old house with holes everywhere.

OP posts:
Miaou · 25/06/2006 11:21

mmm yes I thought that as I typed my last post !

QueenBeety · 25/06/2006 11:23

hey ho!!!

OP posts:
southeastastra · 25/06/2006 11:32

you could ask pest control what they would recommend but it's probably the case that you have to share your house with the mice if it's that old. isn't it just a seasonal thing though mice? your house sounds lovely!
