Wait till its dry and file it with an emery board?

MingeTheMerciless · 22/09/2013 18:50

I think the only way might be to use nail varnish remover but obviously that might damage the colour.

Oh dear. Sad turn it over? Smile

FaddyPeony · 22/09/2013 18:53

Would he really go mental?! It was an accident surely.

I think pick it off when dry.

PractialJoke · 22/09/2013 18:59

Hmm, I don't think it's the end of the world TBH. The worst that can happen is you use it with a spot of nail varnish on it. Put a throw over it?

If Dh's reaction is really going to be that extreme he needs to find something to worry abut IMO.

thishouseisashittip · 22/09/2013 19:14

Can't turn it over, two different designs so he will wonder why I turned it (we bought it for one sides particular design).
Thanks will let it dry and try picking/emery board also I bit of nail varnish remover ( then in wash with lots of fabric conditioner to get rid of smell!) obviously when he is at work tomorrow Wink

Ok he might no go mental but will be pissed off.

Pure acetone will get it off but goodness knows what it'll do to the pattern.

NellysKnickers · 22/09/2013 20:16

Depends on the colour, when ds1 was little, he opened and spilt bright red nail varnish over a brand new white duvet cover, nail varnish remover just smudged it a bit. Think you will have to live with it or get a new duvet cover. My dh didn't even notice, is it possible yours might not?

Yamyoid · 22/09/2013 20:16

White spirit?

WorkingtoohardMama · 22/09/2013 20:18

My dd got nail varnish on her gingham school dress, I made a paste with washing powder and nail varnish remover, rubbed it on the stain and then washed it.

It all came out, and didn't ruin the dress, but obviously was worth taking the risk with an inexpensive dress, maybe not with bedding. . .

HeyJudith · 22/09/2013 20:27

Google search shows that you need to blot the stain from the underside with nail varnish remover. Use kitchen paper and keep using fresh pieces (folded up to make a pad) so as the varnish comes out, you don't transfer it back to the fabric :)

Rinse in cold water under the tap between the fresh pieces of kitchen paper with nail varnish remover

Keep doing until stain has faded and no more colour transfers onto the paper.

Launder the item as usual.

There are probably more tips but this looks like the best one.

I think the best bit is blot stain from the underside! Don't forget!

As for your DH well he might be cross but nobody died, did they Hmm

HTH

HeyJudith · 22/09/2013 20:28

PS it will not pick off when dry!!!!!

It's not rubber! It's liquid and it will soak into the fabric.

You are best taking action now whilst its still wet.

iheartdusty · 22/09/2013 20:31

if your DH will really go mental/ be pissed off in a way that makes you so worried about his reaction, i) he needs to get a life, and ii) you need to get a new DP.

it is only a sheet. Or duvet cover - whatever. It is a bit of cloth with a pretty pattern on it.

ExitPursuedByADragon · 22/09/2013 20:32

Your DH notices bedding Confused

isitsnowingyet · 22/09/2013 20:38

I'm here with ExitPursued as my DH doesn't notice when the bedding has been changed, let alone what the pattern is! Our DD 'decorated' a full undersheet and duvet with permanent black marker pen, and yes we still use those sheets, but obviously not for guests Blush

HeyJudith · 22/09/2013 20:47

Yes, but, before we all jump to assumptions (happens on here a lot) maybe OP has ruined the previous set of bedding hence that's why they have new? or this bedding is really expensive/was a gift? or perhaps her house is a shit tip Wink (ahem user name for those who are Hmm ) and her DH is just mega unimpressed overall ATM? or maybe she's just recently spilt nail polish on the carpet and that was ruined and had to be replaced at great expense, and she's been "yeah yeah yeah" and now this goes and happens? Wink

OP do tell us, is there good reason why your DH has a right to be so pissed off or is he generally, um, disagreeable about things that are not life and death? (I have to agree that I would have to actually stand and show my DH something like that and even then he would probably say "oh I thought that was the pattern!")

AarghGrrAargh · 22/09/2013 20:56

I got nail varnish (red!) out of the carpet with shaving foam. After trying to rub it out with nail varnish (bad idea - made it even worse!).
Worth a try?

thishouseisashittip · 22/09/2013 23:32

Some good ideas here thanks, think I will give Heyjudith's idea a go first, sounds the most likely to work :)

Iheartdusty I couldn't get a new DH, had him 20years now he is like one of the family! Smile

For everybody asking would he really notice, he notices everything, it's good most of the time. Just not at times like this. He is very involved with stuff around the house which is nice so I can't complain about that.

(I also know it's not the end of the world Wink).

Thanks for your help everyone

Mines been cluttering up the place for twenty years too! You can't trade them in, just because they are slightly annoying Smile
