Everyday shoe storage in small home.

Usually keep them on a shoe rack in the kitchen but that's going as I need the room for a tumble dryer. House is now too small for us all. Were trying to move but its not happening.

Dh has massive feet and we don't have a hallway. Where can I put wet winter boots etc?

build a porch?? that's what I want to do. one day. when i have enough money lol

tbh we have similar issue and don't really have an answer... do you have understair storage at all?
i have considered getting an outside plastic storage box for boots etc that can just stay outside. it isn't that practical, but it's better than the alternative

Lol if only! Stacked plastic boxes it might have to be.

Under stairs cupboard full with Hoover etc.

I saw a wall mounted rack where shoes stored a bit like letters in an old fashioned letter rack...let me see.....

buildingmycorestrength · 20/09/2013 14:55

A bit like this but stuck to the wall instead of hung over a door.

we have much the same problem. 3 dc, sometimes 4 when dsd it's here and husband with size 15 feet.

we don't have a hall as such, we have a little foyer bit in which I have put a plastic bucket. all shoes are supposed to go in there. the rule is that only one pair of shoes pet person in allowed downstairs. everything else had to go upstairs. the kids listen, the husband does not. Angry

I have argos value shoe door hangers only cost a few quid but won't hold men's shoes

cupcake78 · 21/09/2013 16:16

The problem with shoe storage is dh shoes don't fit and ds is heading the same way! I give up, I don't think there is a solution except move house

We have this in our v small hallway as nothing else would fit. Holds both dp's huge shoes and also dd's tiny ones you can also fit boots on it but not on the hook part. I wasn't keen on having shoes on show but its far better than the messy pile.

We have a tall Ikea shoe cabinet fixed to the wall near the back door in our kitchen diner, it's white and looks great and is very narrow. It holds loads. I also bought 12 cheap plastic shoe boxes to stack on the top shelf of my wardrobe.

One option may be to go up (since the biggest problem seems to be Hubby and not the kids this shouldn't be a problem).

If the tumble drier is going where the shoe rack would normally be then you could consider a suitable shelf above the drier. Or, my suggestion, a coat rack/hooks that incorporates a shelf with storage so you can store the coats and keep the shoes out of site too.

I would link to an example supplied by the company I work for but don't want to be seen to spam - so here is a Google search so you can see examples from a number of suppliers (amazon comes first).

Can't go up. The dryer is going under the kitchen work top.
