Heated airers- any good?

Now the cold and rain is setting in out house is resembling a laundry and I am running out of space. Someone at work recommended a heated airer, so I thought I would ask some opinions.

Are they wonderful like she says? Do they not make the room very humid?

We have a tumble drier, but trying to save money.

I like ours, which was from a newspaper supplement but which is basically the Lakeland one.

It dries well, but doesn't burn to the touch, which would be bad for toddlers and for clothes! I even dry hand washed stuffed animals (once they've been "wrung out" in the washing machine spin).

To prevent condensation, I open a window or run the kitchen hob extractor fan when the load is at its most humid.

I bought one yesterday and used it for the first time today (Lakeland one)

Took about 7 hours to dry a load. Nice that it's all done and out of the way.

My only issue with it is that it has a ridiculously short lead so have to use an extension lead.
