Help - how do I get dh's hair wax stains off my nicely painted green wall?!!

Hi
My dh attempted to hang a picture earlier on our green feature living room wall. Once he'd got the hook in the wall we stepped back and saw two very noticeable black marks on the wall. Turns out he'd just had his hair cut and the wax had rubbed against the wall while he was leaning on it to line the hook up. Tried washing off but no luck.
Does anyone have any suggestions please? We've not long decorated and needless to say I'm not best pleased. Knew I should I have just done it myself. To top it all the picture looks s**t there aswell so now we'll be left with a hole when we take the hook out!!

WD40 shifts crayons marks which are wax so might be worth a try?

I spray a bit on kitchen towel and rub gently on the mark. Sometimes looks a bit shiny afterwards but seems to go back to normal after a few days

Try a magic eraser (melamine sponge) fab for cleaning marks from paintwork

Last night I tried using hot soapy water but this morning the marks are still there. They are quite large areas, look like dirty handprints.
I will try and get a magic eraser today and try it.
If that doesn't work could I paint over just the marks or would I have to repaint the while wall?

If it is really wax, it will be greasy so paint will not adhere well. WD40 is also oily.

Try white spirit on kitchen roll, turning it often to prevent the grease being redeposited.
