Silicone sealant in my linen window cloth...

Some git used my linen window scrim to mop up spills of silicone sealant. [grr] I'm hoping somebody might have a cure for me please! Will boiling the cloth get it out? Or degrade it enough to allow me to pick off the sealant?

you can buy a cleaning chemical that breaks down the sealant, but it is unlikely to be worth it unless your cloth is worth ££££££s

Silicone sealant is designed to be resistant to hot water, weather and the aggressive household cleaning materials used in bathrooms and kitchens.

Try soaking it in vinegar, acetic acid is the solvent in silicone sealant so that might shift it.

Is it all over the cloth or just one spot? If the latter, just cut that bit out.

Thanks all!

It's all over the cloth Angry in effing great blobs, so creative cutting out not going to be an option unless I want a lace doily! I spent some time this afternoon picking bits off. Thank you for the vinegar tip, I'll try that. As you say PigletJohn, at roughly £5 a cloth it is probably not worth getting the special chemical.
