Dish Drainer that WON'T RUST! Do you know any?

I am sick & tired of buying metal dish drainers that just rust after a couple of weeks! I thought if I spent a bit more (£19.99 on the last one) and it still rusted after a couple of weeks! I know Joseph Joseph does a plastic one... can anyone help with a suggestion of a metal one that won't rust or any other plastic styles that are good. I need as much draining space as possible.
Thank you!

Ours is over a year old and hasn't rusted - it is from Ikea and is a 2 tier one. Can't remember how much, think around £15 though.

TarkaTheOtter · 11/09/2013 19:54

What about a wooden one?

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 11/09/2013 19:54

I think ours came from Lakeland.

A wooden one is a good shout. I'll have a google. I thought about getting one from Lakeland but they are fairly pricey - I guess maybe Lakeland will have some sort of a guarantee?

I'm surprised an Ikea one would be such good quality... am I doing something wrong to make them rust?!

Mine is wire coatedin plastic I guess, from Johm Lewis, and it is brilliant. It is black though so might not go with your kitchen. I have seen cream ones too. T K maxx have quite a few.

Don't get a wooden one, they go mouldy and are a bugger to clean.

Try Homebase. I bought mine there a few years ago, think it is metal with either cream or black on top its a 2 tier one. Have to assemble it but that was fairly easy so can be dismantled for cleaning. Or perhaps Argos or Amazon.

look at the packaging to see if it is described as stainless steel. It will not be as shiny as chrome plate.

The metal itself will probably be stamped "stainless" or "inox" or "rostfrei" or "18/8" in a corner or on the bottom.

If stainless ever does tarnish (it will not rust) you can polish it up with a nylon pan scourer.

I appreciate that people might want something a bit prettier, but... we have drainer this dish drainer from Wilkinsons, it's not as crazy bright white in the flesh, but it's really sturdy thick plastic. We got this one as I wanted a simple slim plate one only, and we also use drying mats from Lakeland. We used to have a larger Wilkinsons dish drainer and it was the same thing, very sturdy plastic, we had one in a nice colour and it was so much better than the other metal ones we've had - never even looked used. The only reason I replaced it is because we moved into a place with a very narrow draining board hence the slim plate rack.

*this dish drainer

YY IKEA. Ours is one which you can attach to a wall if you want to and has a removable metal tray to catch drips underneath (I chucked that bit away as ours sits on the draining board - just trying to describe which one it is). It looks as good as the day we bought it about a year ago, impressive.

We've had our one from ikea for 11.5 years and it isn't rusty. It is this one and it also fits more on it than any dish drainer i have ever come across. I would recommend everyone get one!

Meatyfeet · 16/09/2013 12:41

We have the same one as Janek and it also still looks like new after 11.5 years! It holds loads too :).

Thanks for all the replies. I sort of lost steam with this a few weeks ago but I intend to research all your suggestions. Thanks so much.
