What do you keep your pegs in?

I know, if there was a prize for the most boring question....but I'm finding it is occupying an unreasonable amount of my thinking time!

ATM I use a v old compost caddy - one of the first free issue ones from the council, a kind of plastic basket with a handle. It soon became obsolete when the council changed their recycling system again but has done the job for the pegs for a good many years Smile

This summer it has disintegrated and I need to find a replacement, but I can't bring myself to spend actual cash on such a thing. There must be something laying around that will "do" iyswim. Any better suggestions than a carrier bag?

A gorgeous peg bag that I can't link to but is on amazon if you search blue and white striped peg bag.

Vivacia · 11/09/2013 19:16

A shoulder bag made out of a pair of jeans.

CremeEggThief · 11/09/2013 19:40

An old Tupperware box with a lid.

KatyPutTheCuttleOn · 11/09/2013 19:44

A plastic tub on the washing line. I have a long line as well but I reckon the walking backwards and forwards does me good :)

BrownSauceSandwich · 11/09/2013 21:59

Erm, mine just live on the line too. Glad I'm not the only one.

HorryIsUpduffed · 11/09/2013 22:12

Do they not get grubby on the line?

forcookssake · 11/09/2013 22:15

Yes! Brabantia peg bag FTW Wink
It can be rained on, there's a drainage hole, the karabiner is so useful, plus it's super sturdy. I'm optimistic that I purchased my peg-bag-for-life with this one....

mawbroon · 11/09/2013 22:20

Another one with a cloth bag. They hang on the back of the kitchen door when not being used.

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 11/09/2013 22:24

A cosmetics travel roll bag thingy I got free with a magazine - it has big zipped compartments and a hook to hang on my washing line - it's like it was destined to be a peg bag! Grin

idlevice · 11/09/2013 22:33

I've also got the Brabantia all-singing-all-dancing jobby. It was anathema for me to spend nearly £10 on such a thing & it is boring aesthetically-speaking but functionally it can't be faulted.

CointreauVersial · 11/09/2013 22:40

I use a magazine freebie bag.

I certainly wouldn't walk down the street with it, but it's perfect for pegs.

Although I never thought of a shoulder bag.....no more piles of pegs on the lawn that I have tried to toss into the bag, but missed. Hmmm....

Jux · 11/09/2013 22:54

We have the pegbag dh made in primary school more than 50 years ago. We don't use it, btw, as it's a pita, and the pegs are very happy living on the line.

BrownSauceSandwich · 12/09/2013 21:55

Horry, not really, though the odd spider hides behind them. Eek.

usualsuspect · 12/09/2013 21:56

Mine live on the line, or on the lawn when they ping off the line.

HorryIsUpduffed · 12/09/2013 21:59

:faints:

When we moved into a new house after relocating to Australia the previous owner cheerfully showed us around & happened to mention that the only nasty wildlife they encountered was a nest of redbacks in the peg basket his wife kept out on the washing line Shock

DuelingFanjo · 13/09/2013 14:10

mine are on the line. [unsure]

Viognier · 15/09/2013 11:33

Brabantia peg bags are shouting out to me as spiders' hidey holes - no?

I've got a very cheap plastic hook on basket thing with holes in it so rain and spiders fall through.

Viognier · 15/09/2013 11:35

My 2 x neighbours keep their on the line all the time.

I'm not judging [anal judging emoticon]

(why peg clean clothes with dirty pegs?)

FrussoHathor · 15/09/2013 11:38

Mine live on the line [blatent slattern emoticon]

I use a peg bag from ebay (new not secondhand) that is just a rectangular fabric bag with straps that tie around my waist, like an apron. That way the pegs are easy to get hold of and they move with me. (Peg Bag, apron style. Wearable peg pinny)

Shockers · 08/07/2017 23:37

A cream enamelled hanging bucket with 'PEGS' painted on it.

derenstar · 08/07/2017 23:42

So this is a weird coincidence... I spent far too long at Asda this afternoon looking for something suitable to store my pegs in. I had a basket thing came with the pegs that is cracked and falling apart. After not much luck, I bought back the same said basket thing with pegs just because I want to be able to hang it on the washing line. That brabantia one is genius- don't know why I didn't think to look for one from them given the rotary airer is made by them. Have ordered it off Amazon!

Rainatnight · 08/07/2017 23:48

Those Brabatina ones look dead swanky.

I have a plastic peg basket from the pound shop that came filled with the best pegs I've ever had.

One of my happiest days this year was with baby DD in the garden as she busily emptied and filled (repeat to fade) the peg basket.
