Washing machine won't spin!

Please tell me there is a magic way to fix it!

I can't buy a new one or call anyone out as DH was made redundant and has only just started a new job. and is also on basic uniform meaning that I need to wash his things every night grrrrrrr!

It washes fine but I cannot get it to spin, either as part of a cycle or by running the spin cycle alone. I've tried a different, slower spin speed and that doesn't work either. Everything is coming out dripping and has been in the sun for 5 hours and is still not quite dry.

It's fixable isn't it? Please?

Hi, I'm sure it'll be fixable, but not by you, unless you are a washing machine engineer. I think you'll need a professional to look at it, I've had this problem before (I've had ever washing machine problem imaginable), can't remember how it was fixed. Don't think you'll fix it yourself, it'll need a new part (the part that makes it spin).

When mine stopped spinning it was because the pump was blocked up (with the previous tennants metal collar inserts grrrr)

The back of the machine came off and my friend fiddled around and pulled out half a dozen of them and then it was all fine. Think you'd need a friend who roughly knows what they're fiddling with though!

Gracious that sounds like a bad porn movie!

One reason for this is that the machine hasn't drained properly. Do you have a drain option you can try?

With mine the belt had come off the drum (like the chain comes off a bike). Hoik it back on and it's as good as new. Maybe worth taking the back off and having a look.

Ok it was a little blocked up so I cleared out the dirt trap and quite a bi of water came running out. Tried to spin it and it won't spin- it's just turning and it sounds like its chewing nuts and bolts Hmm

I think it's going to be cheaper to just get a new one as we can claim it back from the house insurance and only have to pay the £50 excess whereas call out charges and new parts will be at least double that.

Thanks for all the suggestions I'll get FIL to have a look at it before I look into getting a new one. He managed to fix it before when I put a bra in and the wire came out
