Eliminating damp smells

I've had a leak in my dishwasher and months of slow dripping has caused damp and mould.

A plumber has sorted the leak and removed the kickboards underneath the units for the area to dry. I've scrubbed the cupboard but the smell remains. Plumber advised me to leave the area free for about a week for it to properly dry, but is there anything else I could do to eliminate the smell?

I can't imagine replacing my dishes into that cupboard with that must smell Sad

I wonder if a cut lemon would work like it does for a fridge? Might be worth a try

if it smells damp, I expect it is damp. If you have a fan, place it to blow air onto the wet area. Like a washing line on a windy day, the extra airflow will dry it out much faster.

Remove anything covering the wet area, such as carpet, vinyl or furniture.

Once it is really dry, you can spray it with a bleach cleaner to kill surface fungus

Fantastic PigletJohn - thanks loads. I'll do that.
