Burnt bottom of stainless steel pot

In case anyone is out there and can help... I just BADLY burnt the entire bottom (inside) my favourite and v expensive stainless steel pot. Basically making porridge for my ds for supper, phone rang, forgot about the porridge. Burnt black porridge stuck to the bottom of my beautiful pot!! Shock It's so bad that if it was a cheap pot I'd simply throw it in the bin.
Anyone any tips on how to salvage my beautiful pot?

Oh put some cola in a pan I burnt and heated it up which dislodged a lot of the burnt stuff (Kim and aggie tip). I soak my pans in soda crystals.

Sprinkle burned bit with washing powder then soak pot overnight.

Barkeepers friend is brilliant for burnt pans, but if it's really bad you might want to try simmering some cola in it first.

get some of this and a sponge scourer and it will remove all the burnt on food. I get ours for about £1 in Home Bargains

Sock in washing powder over night.

Soak*

Soak in biological washing powder overnight.
Or
Dissolve dishwasher tablet in a little water and simmer for 30 mins or so.

Pan will be spotless with little effort.

I rescued my favourite stock pot after a bad jam burn with baking soda/bicarbonate of soda. Put a small amount of hot water (a few mms) in the pan and bring it to a boil on the hob. Then pour in lots of bicarb, covering the burn. It will fizz like crazy lifting the burn with it. You might need to do it several times but it really did the job for me, my pan bottom is back to shiny silver again (I'd say there was a good 2-3mm of burned sugar all over it).
