Hi all, DD had an accident while wearing her nice new wellies. They are damp and smell of wee. What's the best way to clean them??

dettol anti bac spray into the boots, leave for 10 mins then rinse out with lots of hot water

Put them in the washing machine - I 've done ours loads of times

Thanks both. Have just sprayed dettol into them. Am nervous about the washing machine as they are new and spent a bit more on them than normal. Will wait for a further consensus (no offence Bubble!) Wink

I agree with bubble! And have also put various filthy wellies in machine. With no problem. I put a towel in with them or summat like it to stop them clashing about too noisily.

You could also just leave them outside when it really rains!

Anyone had a disaster in the washing machine? I'm nervous!

Once they have dried, use bicarb of soda and they will get rid of any residual dampness and smell. Tip it in freely!

I always put wellies in washing machine, never had any problems doing it.

they are very easy to wash ouit with water, the more difficult thing is to dry then fast so you don't get mould and bacteria inside.

Stand them, outside on a sunny or windy day, mostly upside down with the toes up more, so they can drain, but remove any loose linings or insoles first. You might be able to tie them to a washing line
