I apologise for asking a very boring question, but whenever I get stuck, the best bet seems to be ask Mumsnet. I have a table protector for my dining room table, one of those ones a bit like a padded tablecloth, rubberish on top, but cloth/felt underneath. It was bought on a roll so you could order the length needed. My table extends, so I bought it long enough to cover the table when fully extended, with some overhang. We only rarely extend the table fully, but leave the protector on all the time. It's getting annoying as it's too big for everyday. If I cut out down to fit the table size most in use, do I size it so that it fits the table top exactly, or do I leave a bit of an overhang to protect the edges of the table? The material is pretty thick, so if it's a bit bigger and you put a tablecloth on top, it sticks out a bit.
I know I'm overthinking it, but I don't want to cut it to fit then find out that it would leave me with a bashed in table edge (I have young dc), but once I cut it, it's too late to stick it back together. Thanks for sticking with a boring topic - if you use one of these, how big is it in relation to your table?
