Cleaning the bath.....

My DD has very sensitive skin, and keeps getting thrush!
We have been told to not use any products in her bath - just water.
But what would be best to clean the bath with? I'm thinking that the cleaning product may stay on the bath, and effect her skin too? Or would that be crazy?!!?

Cut a lemon in half, dip it in salt, and scrub away Smile

Also, thrush is fuelled by sugar, do do try restricting her diet to see if it helps. Hope it improves.

Lemon & salt - sounds good!

Yes, I do try and restrict the sugar - it in EVERYTHING though! Thanks.

I have only ever cleaned the bath post dc with washing up liquid or ecover washing liquid - v gentle might be good Grin

Ah! Yep, sugar everywhere..,

Have you tried limiting her exposure to chemicals generally to let her system heal a bit - like, natural shampoos with no SLS (or washing with bicarb), use soap nuts or washer eggs instead of washing powder, no artificial ingredients in food, that sort of stuff?

yourcruisedirector · 12/08/2013 21:52

Oh and vinegar is good for cleaning with too Smile

I can't imagine that bath cleaning chemicals could cause a problem, as long as it's rinsed well after.

I'm sure I read somewhere that pro biotics are good for thrush/ yeast infections. Might be worth checking? Feel for your dd, thrush is horrid.

Tw1nkle · 13/08/2013 07:39

Thanks everyone. I'll definitely try the lemon and salt for the bath.
I'll try a natural shampoo too - haven't tried that yet, as also stuck to johnson's baby shampoo so far!
I use the non-bio tesco washing powder, and that seems ok, and I do try and feed her a natural diet as much as i can (I follow a paleo-type diet myself, and wish she would follow me more!)
I'm also giving her natural live yoghurt too, from last week, so hopefully that will help, she's never had it this badly before.......poor thing!

Sounds like you're doing all the right stuff - if it's not too personal, do just check that she's doing no more than rinsing the affected area with water - no soap or scrubbing as it could cause imbalance or infection.
