I have just bought a new house and I want it to smell gorgeous. Please recommend me some nice room sprays (or any other products you use to make your house smell good!)

Thanks

Not a spray as they all smell like loo cleaner but if you heat some vanilla essence in the oven it makes the house smell lovely!

Jesstryinghard · 10/08/2013 18:33

Yankee candles :)

I like the M&S diffuser reeds
Also burn wax tarts, usually citrus ones in summer and cinnamon type in winter

MinimalistMommi · 10/08/2013 18:49

Don't use them, they're bad for your health.
If you have to use something, use a couple of drops of essential oils in water in a plug in diffuser. You can get them from Neal's Yard.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 10/08/2013 18:59

M&S green fig. Lovely and subtle, just a quick squirt.

Vivacia · 10/08/2013 19:59

I'm a convert to oil and reed diffusers. I have different scents in each room.

RNJ3007 · 10/08/2013 20:05

Body Shop do some nice ones.

I use Ecover reed diffuser in living room though.

I'm not trying to be a smart-arse here, but I think opening all your windows and letting fresh air in is the best smell a home can have. I hate all those fake candle/plug-in smells

Bramblesinforrin · 11/08/2013 08:52

Air the house well. The white company do room sprays which are amazing. I love the geranium one, but save it for occasional smells and walk through it as I spray as its like perfume

PoppyAmex · 11/08/2013 10:47

Agree with Slainte, open windows every day.

I use essential oils and water on a spray bottle and change the scents according to season/room - this summer is grapefruit.

I take inspiration from Jo Malone's lovely scent combinations.

Alternatively the reeds tend to smell less artificial.

MasterOfTheYoniverse · 11/08/2013 13:22

Fresh air or good quality candles.
Love essential oils too. I never burn them but use them with a water ioniser

Feelslikea1sttimer · 11/08/2013 13:31

Jo Malone candles or white company room spray, the pomegranate noir is my all time fave and the candles are expensive but only need to be lit for a short time and therefore last for ages. The white company room spray is a bit cheaper and smells just as gorgeous
:)

Molten Brown and True Grace have lovely room sprays and matching candles.
I have just bought a Lampe Berger which cleans the air as well as fragrances it. Put it on for 20 minutes and the whole house is beautifully scented - they are safe as you blow out the flame after 2 minutes and it works catalytically after that, until you put lid on.
I have had the windows open every day and agree fresh air is wonderful but sometimes you just want your home to be luxuriously fragranced.
If you have wooden furniture, beeswax polish will add to the the smell of posh.

Iheartcrunchiebars · 11/08/2013 16:09

White company do a really good orangey one. It lasts ages as you only need a tiny squirt.

I would say that room sprays form Just Aromatherapy - www.justaromatherapy.co.uk are the best room sprays because they are very strong and long lasting. Also they come in normal fragrances like lavender and rose etc i don't really like all the strange scents out the just ones i know, they do have loads of scents and the prices do seem very good compared to other shops like m&s type shops. I think as soon as you find a fragrance you like you stick with it. Clean Cotton is my fave and in the bathroom Sea Breeze is really nice. Do recommend trying them out on room sprays.. i have tried ebay but not really found anything i like..
