Is there such a thing as a tin-opener that works?

Sick of buying them only to find they jam, don't turn, hurt my fingers and wrists etc.

I've had ikea, morrisons, tesco, lakeland - all shite.

Is there a definitive one out there I've missed?

Electric tin opener all the way.

When I started uni (16 yrs ago) I had no idea how to use a non electric tin opener, and I still can't. I am 34 Blush

I said to DH as we were both struggling with tin of tuna earlier... 'I'm getting a sodding leccy one next'.

I had a sore wrist when pregnant 20 years ago. An electric can opener has been a necessity ever since. I have a spare one, but would never be without my electric one now.

I have a Brabantia brand tin opener, and it's lasted quite well. I wouldn't trust an electric one.

noisytoys · 10/08/2013 08:16

I have an electric one it's great. I'm not sure why you wouldn't trust one? I trust every other electrical appliance in the house, why not the tin opener Grin

I've got that Magican opener. My dh used it, and now it's broken Hmm

He used it the wrong way, and now I have to use a crappy Ikea one.

AmberLeaf · 10/08/2013 09:44

Electric tin opener here too. Life changing!

Elsiequadrille · 10/08/2013 11:00

Only that the only electric tin opener we owned didn't last very long, and it was quite temperamental Grin

I nipped into Currys today, and they didn't appear to do electric tin openers. I have to pass Argos on my way home from work next week, so I'll go in there.

Are they all battery operated these days or do you have to plug in? I seem to recall back in the day they had to be bolted onto a work surface.

Mine is plugged in when I want to use it and kept in the cupboard when not in use. It can be powered by batteries but kitchens generally have plugs Grin
