Organising homework and craft stuff for 4 dc

Any brilliant ideas? At present I'm using an ikea trofast storage system in the dining room with the smallest slidey trays. But still can't seem to keep everything under control and the dts start school next month so I will have double the stuff to maintain. Plus the trofast thing doesn't look that nice with bright green trays! Ideally I'd like a homework tray/box and craft tray/box for each child that's really easy for them to access but doesn't get too messy. The depth of the Ikea trays are perfect, they're just ugly!

I need a similar thing, was thinking Trofast small trays and a larger bucket for bigger projects etc

Can you replace the green trays for another colour like white?

I think you can move the internal shelves to accommodate trays/bins ?

Watching with interest as I too need something by September

It's not just the trays, the frame is pretty ugly compared to the other furniture. I have 4 of the slimline green trays and one big bucket at the bottom for bigger craft projects that the kids will forget within a day :) I guess I was hoping for something more stylish! It does work quite well, I have other frames around so I could just buy more trays in white.

I have spent -a stupid amount of - hours looking into this and I just can't find anything that is as good as the Trofast Sad

I agree, something a bit nicer to look at would be ideal Smile

I think I've now come to the conclusion that as long as it contains the ever increasing amount of -crap- lovely things my DC bring home/start making, I just have to cope with ugly. The alternative is ever spreading piles of stuff over every work surface in kitchen etc Hmm

If you do manage to find a good alternative, post it on here so I can have a look.

I want to make sure it's bought and put in position and EVERYONE knows where to put their things before school starts Grin

I somehow feel better that another mumsnetter has come up with the same idea after extensive research. It must be the best idea!

I only have 2 doing homework but these have been amazing for organising it (not pretty though):

www.amazon.co.uk/Leifheit-52001-Bucket-Combi-Box/dp/B004DTSDLW/ref=pd_sim_kh_1

One for each child, roughly reading in one side, workbooks in the other, room for pens, pencils, laminated phonics sheet, number squares etc too. Can be taken to room or dining table by child.

All art stuff lives in this which I don't mind the look of:
