How do you get rid of dust? Is there some kind of secret method i'm missing? It drives me mad! What do you use to get rid of it? I can't stand furniture polish (if you even use that to get rid of dust, who knows?!) because of the stink, and have been using some wipe thingys suitable for wood/plastic/tvs etc. But as soon as i've used them, its back! Any dust fighting tips?

Microfibre cloths help to catch the dust.

No magic answers though. We use coal in our stove and the dust gets everywhere!

Unless all your furniture and carpets match the colour of the dust you get in your house, there isn't much you can do to 'get rid of it'. And some pieces are like black grand pianos - no matter how many times you wipe them, they'll still show the dust.
I like the Pledge-type dusters - fluffy things that catch dust by static. I have tried the re-usable 'refills', but they're not as good as the disposable shop-bought type IMO.

I think you have to dust more regularly than I do Grin

Microfibres cloths are good as are the dusting gloves you wear on your hands, but wet dusting with a wet wipe really helps too.

Wet dusting, and make sure you do the tops of door jams and try and hoover your light shades/fittings. Anything above your head that also collects dust will of course also shed that dust downwards. And don't forget the hoovering too, footfall on dust filled carpets merely keeps it circulating in the air!

Wet dusting with microfibre cloth minimum of once a week. Hoover downstairs every day.

Less dust here in the sticks too...

Thanks for the tips everyone. Also into decluttering the house, so hopefully less things for the dust to settle on!
