Hi everybody

I am thinking of getting new pan set for my kitchen and I am lost.. I do not want to spend more than £150 and I need 3-4 pans.

Could you please share what pans are you using and if you like them

I want stainless steel ones.
Thanks

Mine are by prestige. Can't say price as they were a gift when we got our first house. 7 years in and they still look like new. Can't link as I'm on my phone but I've got the frying pan, wok and 4 saucepans and all are brilliant

Judge Vision. They have glass lids which I did not like at first as they are non-traditional but am pleased with. The glass does go cloudy in the dishwasher. Got a set (5 or 6 piece I think) on offer, and topped up with extra-big casseroles which are not usually in the set. Separate items seem never to be on offer. sets almost always are.

Not worth buying an expensive stainless frying pan, they all stick. Non-stick pans don't last so long so wouldn't buy another expensive one.

For stainless I prefer brushed finish, not mirror, as it looks smart longer and does not show marks.

I'd check that the bottoms are stainless, not copper or aluminium which can leave marks on sinks and worktops.

might be Judge Vista, not vision.

p.s.

have also had the Stellar set with the bellied pans, which look good but on gas, burns up the bellied sides unless gas is very low. All given away now to someone who cooks electric.

Thanks, I have checked Prestige online - looks very nice! And they have few items on sale so I might go for them :)

Piglet - thanks for that. I am cooking on gas.. so Stellar is a no no then. I will have a look at Judge Vista :)

I have stellar pans, they are straight sided and I bought them for my new induction hob.

I haven't tried them yet.

Anyway, they were £400 online for 3 pans, one milk pan and a non stick frying pan but I paid £99 in tk maxx.

Eglute · 03/08/2013 22:44

Tk maxx!! Of course! I didn't think about it. Thanks fluffy

Mine are by Meyer. They are stainless steel with glass lids. They were a present over 20 years ago and they still look as good as new and have had 20 years of daily use. I don't use a dishwasher so I don't know how good they are for that. Smile

I've only ever had cheapy pans before, never stainless steel, so they feel good quality to me and are nicer than the JL ones I was going to buy.

These are mine, they are £130 ish on the Internet now.

I've found the only ones that are not happy in a dishwasher, are ones with an exposed aluminium plate on the botto, which will get white or vlack corrosion and will mark surfaces it touches. Usually, modern stainless pans have the bottom thermal layer encapsulated in stainless, so no prob with that.

If they have plastic handles, they will go dull in the dishwasher (and, on gas, will eventually be damaged by flames licking up the sides.) They will also be damaged on casserolesa if they go in a hot oven and will eventually break.

Mine are stainless with plastic handles, as the previous set lasted for many years.

Le Creuset are fashionable, but very heavy. We have some but DP says she can't lift them. When I had an arm injury, I couldn't either.

I have some expensive Meyer Circulon Infinite and some cheap IKEA365+ all suitable for all hobs including induction.

Wish I'd saved my money and not bought the Meyer, they are heavy and take longer to heat up. The Ikea pans are spot on.

I have Meyer stainless steel, bought as a wedding gift 9 years ago, probably around your budget. They have glass lids with strainers in the side which I love. They still look good as new.
