Batteries

On 4th July I bought a pack of 20 AA 1.5 volt batteries for a pound. I though 1.5 volt was 1.5 volt so they would be alright. But they don't work in my camera. I took them back to the shop and the lady said that they varied in strength and that these batteries would not work for the camera. I bought a packet of 4 Duracell batteries for £1.99. Will they be alright or do I need to buy even more expensive ones? They work at the moment, but how long will they last?

you can get batteries that are specifically for cameras and thats what we normally buy

ilovepowerhoop · 30/07/2013 15:31

we use something like these

ilovepowerhoop · 30/07/2013 15:32

you could also use rechargeables

Dutchoma · 30/07/2013 20:40

Thanks ilovepowerhoop. i did have rechargeables for a while, but after about four years they were no good any longer and I thought it might be cheaper to buy ordinary ones. £7 for four is quite a lot of money. How long do they last?

cameras are very power-hungry, especially for the flash. Lithium batteries are expensive but will do the job. You may find own-brand in supermarkets or Maplins. Aldi and Lidl are very good for batteries.

Lithium also have an incredible shelf life, might be ten years or something, if you use the camera rarely. Yes, they are expensive, so lock them away and prevent them being wasted in toys or players. nothing else is as powerful

Modern Ni-Mh/Accu/Hybrid rechargables have more power than the old rechargables, but probably only last a few years. Again own-brands are good value for the toys and players. I never buy non-rechargables now. Cheap batteries in backstreet shops and street markets are usually rubbish, and sometimes counterfeit.
