I need to replace my dying dyson. Love the brand, so want to go for Same make.
I have two asthmatic men in the house, a large moulting dog, a moulting cat, carpets, wooden floors and karndean.
Which one? I currently have an upright.
I'm off to work but would appreciate advice.

Get a Miele Grin

New Dysons are crap.

MousyMouse · 26/07/2013 07:51

dysons(well all bagless) are shit for astmatics. the empying is messy.
have just replaced our bagless dust redistributor with a bosh one which best buy
it really is much much better!
imo

Well I love my dc33 - not at all messy to empty and brilliant for our asthmatic household!

I've got the Dyson cylinder animal and I love love love it - used to have a Henry and the Dyson is a pleasure to use in comparison. I always take the dust compartment outside to empty and shake off etc.

im a cleaner and would never buy a dyson.
definitely miele or a henry.

We have the Dyson DC32 which replaced our upright. I LOVE it. We have a very hairy black labrador and cream carpets so it gets a lot of use. I also use it on the kitchen tiles and pretty much everywhere to dust. Attachments for everything and is so lightweight compared to the old upright (perfect for stairs or lifting up to be able to reach cobwebs etc).

You can even get a dog grooming attachment for it (think dog brush with suction) to cut some of the hairs of at the source!

The only downside is emptying it - I do find it a bit messy (I do it outside over a bag, but still manage to get clumps of dog hair flying about). But I do tend to let it get fuller than I should, so if I didn't do that, it probably wouldn't be anywhere near as bad.

Thank you. I will look at all of those options. Emptying is not a problem as I do it into our green bin well away from inside the house. :)

What is wrong with it? They will refurbish it for just under £80.

Bramblesinforrin · 27/07/2013 21:42

We've had it refurb end a couple of times now. It is now held together by duct tape and various bits drop off each time I use it as bits have also snapped off the main body. It's about 14 years old and it's time for a change - it's taking too long to patch up and down so we can use it each time.

I'd never buy another dyson after my Miele. Much better.
