What do you store bath toys in?

We've just had a lovely new floor fitted in the bathroom. I cleared everything out for the fitters as now I don't want to put it back!

We did have an ikea box on wheels for all the bath toys - it is fairly big. Too big really, although it is full. Hmm

What do you store the bath toys in?

I'm going to have a cull of bath toys this week! :)

I found a mesh bag that sticks to the tiled wall with little suckers for £15, went home and made my own for about £3 genius
DS is only 19mo so doesn't have a huge amount if toys.
You don't have to cull them, you could rotate their use weekly, maybe?

Suddengeekgirl · 24/07/2013 09:10

I could rotate them but then I'd still have to store the 'out of rotation' ones.

Ds is 4yo so we have a lot. :) most have seen better days and even more just don't get played with really. Hmm

You can get the mesh bags on ebay for a quid or two. I've just ditched a load of our bath toys - all the squirty ones that go black inside. My DC favour empty ketchup bottles anyway!

Do you have wall space in your bathroom? We have some IKEA metal kitchen / bathroom shelves at above head height to store all our stuff.

StealthPolarBear · 24/07/2013 10:18

washing up bowl under the sink

Suddengeekgirl · 24/07/2013 11:54

Sainsburys happened to have a mesh bag for £1.30ish today so I bought that. No idea if the suckers will be strong enough to hold it up - this was the problem with a previous version we had. Hmm
Will see if I can fill it up with the good toys and secretly ditch the rest :)

If the suckers are too small, then you can also buy suckers with hooks cheaply online. We had dodgy textured tiles before we had our bathroom redone, and nothing would stick properly to them - most annoying.

cornflakegirl · 24/07/2013 12:58

Stealth - how do you avoid getting stagnant water accumulating in the bottom? I suppose you just have to remember to empty it out regularly - I may be too lazy for that solution!

StealthPolarBear · 24/07/2013 13:01

I forget about them leave them in the bath for 24 hours before putting them away :o

IWipeArses · 24/07/2013 17:26

I have a large plastic jug. They don't all fit in at the minute though, so I may buy a suction cup net again.

forevergreek · 24/07/2013 17:29

A wicker basket on bottom drawer. If they don't fit, they don't exist here

WipsGlitter · 24/07/2013 17:32

Ikea plastic bin that matches the bathroom bin. It was about£1 or something. Easy to wash out if necessary.

Walkacrossthesand · 24/07/2013 19:50

I've got a 'pretend muslin' bag with a drawstring - think it was for winemaking originally, straining the fruit pulp. The drawstrings hang over the bath tap so the toys drip into the bath. I don't really need bath toys now as my youngest is 18 but the favourites are kept in case of toddler visitorsGrin

mirrorpants · 25/07/2013 16:33

We use our old TummyTub... he was so tiny he used it for months, now toys- as he's now three and it's still going strong, I figure makes it a really good buy!!

Spirael · 25/07/2013 16:40

We have a rack that goes across our bath and just pile them up on there to drip into the bath until they dry.

Suddengeekgirl · 26/07/2013 07:45

Well the net bag from sainsburys lasted less than 24h Hmm
The 2 part suckers have fallen apart - this was before the bag was even 1/4 full! Good job it was less than £2!

And here's me worried about global warming

Suddengeekgirl · 26/07/2013 08:12

Think you're in the wrong topic then

I store toys in 2 colanders I got from the $2 shop. They hold quite a lot and water drains out of the bottom so the toys don't get too manky.
.

noisytoys · 26/07/2013 08:30

In a mesh bag hung on the window. We only have half a bag of toys, its only a bath they don't need a whole playroom size box of every water toy available

cornflakegirl · 26/07/2013 11:31

sudden we have a couple of the clippasafe ones which are lasting well. They seem to be selling for about £4 on ebay.

walk still giggling at your comment!

forevergreek · 26/07/2013 12:31

We must be stingy also with bath toys. They have a few zogg swim things and then the odd plastic pirate/ cat/ car etc that gets brought in from regular toys, but taken back after a few baths.
They mainly play with the thousands of bubbles they get!

But we are probably stingy with actual toys as the rule is all have to fit in cupboards/ baskets etc at the end of the day

adagio · 26/07/2013 12:43

We have 4 ducks and a stingray who shows the temperature, his name is, unimaginatively, Ray. They line up politely along the side of the bath and stare at me.

I am marking my place for solution, as my small baby grows I can see storage becoming a problem, being as she had 5 toys before she could even sit up?.!

Walkacrossthesand · 27/07/2013 01:50

Thanks, cornflake! You won't be surprised to learn that I also have a tub of Duplo, the Tomy squeaky egg box, and some playmobil and Polly Pockets squirrelled away - looking forward to being a grandma, moi?!

Layl77 · 27/07/2013 21:07

I read a handy tip to use a glue gun on bath toys & ducks holes so they don't go all manky inside. Our bargain shop has glue gun sets for £2.99 :)
