How to clean seats in car

We have a Focus estate which we keep reasonably clean and tidy however the seats are becoming a bit of a let down.

This has been exacerbated by the new baby who vomits with some force and we urgently need to deep clean the seats. Obviously when it happens I do the best I can to clean up but can often be some time before I can wash the surface.

Can I buy a steam cleaner or hire one? Would that do it?

Advice welcome

Presumably they are fabric seats? If so, I would say a steam cleaner would be the best option.

If they're leather, I wouldn't use a steam cleaner. Our manual says to just use a damp cloth with no cleaning product, but I use saddle soap as we have a dog who loves water/mud so the back seats get filthy (even though covered with a blanket).

Could always check your manual to see what they recommend?

I've recently bought a bottle of "quick Valet" from local Poundland

spray onto seats
leave for 30 secs
wipe off with damp cloth
vacuum when dry

Not tried it out as but surely worth a shot for a quid.
if it helps my mum has one of the steam mops & it can be used to refresh carpets & curtains so provided car has cloth interior you should be fine. They can be picked up cheaply enough (eg 39.99) & if you plan to use on a regular basis then prob more cost effective than hiring on regular basis.

hope this helps :)

Thanks both - yes they are fabric seats and we will need to clean regularly, will try the poundlad stuff!

Carpet shampooer with upholstry attachment. It is important to suck the detritus away, not just wet it.

I spilt a cup of coffee, and other stuff. I used a wilko lemon antibacterial wipe and scrubbed like mad. Like new.!! Also used on veg oil spilt in the car on fabric seat, again has done the trick

I wish I knew! My dd wee'd on my passenger seat, I washed it with hot water with a little bio washing liquid in it, but it has left stains around the edge. I don't know how to get rid of them Hmm
