Tumble Dryers and Carpets...a boring but important question

I have had a tumble dryer delivered today; never had one before. The room it is in has a carpet and I have just read that it should not be on carpet so as to not block the filters/cause overheating. So do I need to take the carpet up underneath it (newish carpet) or can I get away with putting some lino or similar on top of the carpet/under the dryer? I was thinking of doing that anyway in case of leaks etc, but not sure if that will be ok?

piece of plywood underneath. 12mm thick preferably. 18mm is excessive. WBP grade (they will know what that is) as it is fairly water-resistant.

600mm x 600mm is the size you want

get it from a place that sells and cuts wood, it it worth paying extra for ther cutting.

you will probably find they sell it in sheets of 1220mm x 600mm
Keep the offcut and put in on the floor next to the machine when you want to drag it about (it will sink immovably into carpet). The offcut can be stored behind the machine

Luckily tumble driers are much lighter than most appliances so you will be able to lift it up easily between two people.

piglet that is great, we have a local timber suppliers near us that cut to size and are not expensive so I will pop along there today and get it done. The machine is not heavy so won't be a problem for Dh to sort it with a friend. Thank you for the advice.
