Vented if you can so it all goes outside and vapourises. Condenser means a little box to collect all the water which you have to empty all the time.

furbaby · 14/07/2013 16:13

Condenser deffo .... I empty water tank on tumble dryer so often you would, nt believe the amount of water they expel .
As ours is in our shed I am sure shed would have rotted to the ground in about a year .
Hope this helps :)

Condenser would have . Think they are great . No problem letting water out it is also in my kitchen. The only thing I would say if you go for condenser make sure your water tray is at the top,my first condenser was at bottom and a bit of hazzle having to bend down all the time. One I have now is at the top and it's great.

Condenser, every single time. I've had both and a condenser is definitely better. You can put them anywhere as no vent hose, speaking of which, the hose is an eyesore, either hanging out the window or going into the wall. The hoses wear out/split over time and they get full of fluff from the bits that the lint trap doesn't get. Condensers do this too, but you just pull it out and wash it under shower/in the bath. toffee is completely right, get a condenser where the water tank is at the top as if they're at the bottom, it's a PITA to bend down to empty.

MrsApplepants · 14/07/2013 17:12

Condenser, much less fuss and you can put it anywhere.

KatyTheCleaningLady · 14/07/2013 18:08

Condensers are more prone to break down.

Venting dryers can be hard to place, it's true.

poocatcherchampion · 14/07/2013 19:34

can you convert a vented one into a condenser? we have a vented one but its a pita to stick the nozzle outside every time.

BumgrapesofWrath · 14/07/2013 19:39

Vented driers work much more efficiently than condenser driers, so if you've got somewhere to put the vent I would

Seabright · 14/07/2013 21:30

Condenser. You can put them anywhere.

e1y1 · 14/07/2013 23:52

You can sort of poocatcher (love the name!!)

There's a condenser box type thing and you connect your hose to that, eliminating the need to stick the tube out of a window or into the wall. You just empty when full.

Here is one

Hope this helps.

The two advantages I have come across for vented is that that apparently dry loads quicker than condenser? Also the one thing I have noticed is that they are alway cheaper to buy than the condenser models. Still would have a condenser though personally.

PigletJohn · 16/07/2013 17:08

vented are simpler, do wrong less, and cheaper to buy.

It is very easy to cut a neat round hole in a wall if you hire a core drill from your local tool hire shop and are fairly strong.

PigletJohn · 16/07/2013 17:12

go wrong less

Fluffycloudland77 · 16/07/2013 17:12

I don't think dh would want a hole in the wall, would that condensing box really work?

OP posts:
PigletJohn · 16/07/2013 17:21

an attractive hole in the wall

KatyTheCleaningLady · 16/07/2013 19:05

I looked into the condenser boxes... I don't think they work very well.

e1y1 · 17/07/2013 14:24

I have used those condenser boxes fluffy and they're ok. You just have to be be meticulous in remebering to empty it which I never was :p

BeaLola · 17/07/2013 14:44

I bought my first tumble dryer this year . Went for condenser as it had to go in garage as unless I wanted to redo kitchen/utility room there was nowhere ele for it to go.

Love it. Water collects in 'drawer' at top which pulls out very easily and I use the water on the garden. Easy to clean lint elements out of machine. Would not swap.

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/07/2013 18:59

The drier would have to go under the work top, the hose could go into a cupboard then

Condenser. We invested in a dryer when we moved and finally got a utility room. Takes two seconds to pull out the drawer (at the top) and whist that's draining away I clear all the compartments which collect the fluff. After years of hard towels, we finally have lovely fluffy towels. As an aside, I am still amazed at all the fluff that comes out of it! We went for the most efficient one we could afford as I know they're not cheap to run, and I do try to limit its use.
