Replacing black floor tiles with white lino?

Should I?

We have a long kitchen that is about 15cm2. We have just lifted black floor tiles that were badly cracked and are going to replace them with lino.

The kitchen seems so bright and airy without the black floor tiles. If I replace them with a bright white/cream/ivory type lino am I going to be irritated because it looks constantly dirty, or will I enjoy it looking bright and airy?

Depends if you have kids/OH/yourself/pets who visit the kitchen in 'outdoor shoes' and/or how much cooking/splashing you do.

Sorry that wasn't really very definitive.

If you like the pale look but do 'live in' your kitchen a lot what about something with a speckle to it?

Please don't do it. We have white Lino in our bathroom and had very light Lino in our kitchen. It is the biggest mistake ever the floor looks grubby within 5 minutes of washing it. It's really bad this time of year when we are walking about bare foot. We have now changes the kitchen floor to black and will change the bathroom floor very soon. The bathroom I find embarrassing as even if I clean it literally an hour before guests arrive it will look grubby by the time a couple of people have been in there even though we have a no shoes policy in our house.

Meant to say we have one baby who isn't walking yet so just dh and I walking on it so not even high traffic.

Oh no! Really? There are two of us and our seven month old. What about an off-white beigie type colour? Or is that also asking for trouble?

The kitchen was an off white beige colour-it just got grubby within hours and showed every speck of dirt. It used to drive me bonkers. However we walk around barefoot which I don't think helps.
