Slide-robes. Anyone got any experience of them? Or other fitted wardrobe places?

We're getting fitted wardrobes and are just about to start getting quotes.

I really like the look of their wardrobes.

Can anyone tell me anything about them? :)
Or any other fitted wardrobe people! :)

Well they are expensive.. But they are lovely. We've had ours for 2 years and they still look immaculate. I would use them again- if I had any money Grin

Mmmm - can I ask how much they were?
Just wo seeing if they're completely and utterly over budget before I fall in love with them! Confused

It's based on what you have ie. different doors cost different prices. We had a 3 mirrored door fully fitted and installed for about £3200. It's given us so much storage that we would have had to move without it.

We looked at B&Q and that was about £2000 without fitting but the doors weren't floor to ceiling and we had to compromise on everything and they just weren't the same quality.

Book an appointment, you don't need to buy it if you don't want/can't afford it.

Oooh! That might be almost within budget. :)

Thanks! :)

Think it'll be an ikea pax job if getting them fitted is going to be super mega bucks!

When we first went to the showroom they asked the length of the wall to have the wardrobe built into, then they work out how many slide doors they would use. Then they have a chart that tells you what the absolute most (if you had every thing inside) that it would come to. I think a 3 door one had a top price of something like £3500 so we came slightly under budget.

We had a second smaller one downstairs too to use as DVD storage. I would like one in the DD's room in a few years as their wardrobe space is inadequate really compared to ours Grin

I had two fitted. The wardrobes (or 'sliderobes' as they are referred to by the store staff) are fine. Not stunning - and not as good quality as expected for the price - but good for the clean, contemporary look. What I would say is CHECK WHO OWNS THE STORE. The Sliderobe Group is a franchise and even though they supposedly share the same policies, variations do seem to apply. My sliderobes both had faults after installation, so a fitter - the same who had been responsible for the faults in the first place - came to fix it. He explained that in order to replace the two shelve (one per sliderobe), he'd need to dismantle at least half the wardrobe in each case and he couldn't guarantee he'd get it absolutely right, or that there wouldn't be more damage or more problems as a result. As the faults were fairly minor, we decided we'd live with them and ask for a discount. Point blank refusal from the General Manager of this particular store, on the grounds that they never discounted, only fixed. This is their general policy, but apparently exceptions have occurred.
