I'm moving out of a rented property shortly and a few things need addressed to get it to the standard it was in when I moved in, all tips and advice are very welcome!

Issues are:

Manky, greasy oven (yes I'm ashamed!) what is best to use to bring it up nicely? As I can't leave it like this!

Mould or maybe mildew? On the walls near the windows - what do I use to get this off a painted wall? Also on window frame but as this is plastic it just wipes off.

Smeary shower doors, nothing seems to get these nice again. Windowlene maybe?

Marks on painted walls - I read sugar soap is good - what is this and where do I get it? Or does anything else work? When I say marks, I mean the odd scuff, nothing terrible but if I can remove them I'd prefer to.

Another problem is the whole property has wooden floors, no carpets, and it harbours dust, even when I Hoover right to the edge of the walls there is still a rim of dust which spreads around when I mop! What should I do - just run a damp cloth around the edge of the floor to collect it?

Finally a large sticker got stuck on the bath and has left loads of sticky residue, any good ideas to remove this?

If you can answer just one or two of these queries it would be helpful I don't expect someone to have to respond to all!

Most urgent are oven, mould and shower door - thank you!

Oven - astonish oven cleaner. Cheap, in poundland, and effective.

The sticker - spray it with hairspray then rub it, it should come off easily.

Marks on walls - damp magic eraser from Lakeland

Stickers on bath - damp E-cloth

Shower screen - damp E-cloth, then dry polishing E-cloth

Oven - OvenPride

Good luck Smile.

Thanks for all replies so far! Some great suggestions.
Am halfway through bleaching the grout in the shower so am having a breather from the fumes! Will check back again later to see if anyone knows about the mould! ( it's not as bad as it sounds by the way, I've not been living in squalor, just have 2 small children so some things haven't been kept up with!)

Domestos do wipes as well as the spray on cleaner - the wipes are good on walls. The spray might help with the shower door - spray on and leave for a bit then rather than just spray off, have a good rub at it first before spraying.

Oven pride for the oven, but beware, it's bloody strong so make sure none touches your skin. If you're short on time, but not on money, you could always go for a professional oven clean. Should be about £50.

When my tenant left, my shower door looked like it had never been cleaned. I found a non scratch scourer and cillit bang lime scale remover, and then buff with windowlene worked well, but white vinegar or lemon juice should also tackle limescale.

Sugar spray can be bought in places like home base or b&q. I have found it works well, although, if I run out, I just use cif lemon spray which I think works just as well.

if shower door is really solid I find that limelite is the biz. Wear gloves and don't use any other stuff at the same time.

I'm a bit excited to try Oven Pride! BUT what do you use on the glass on the door as the website says not to put it on the glass? Just regular oven cleaner and elbow grease?

Shower door should be fine, it's not particularly grubby just smeary - have Cillit Bang so will give it a good scrub with that and then windowlene it to finish off.

Not tried the hairspray on the sticker trick yet but have high hopes!

I actually really like cleaning but am a bit lost when things require more than a bit of hot soapy water Grin

I've always used oven pride on the glass door! Didn't realise you weren't supposed to. Perhaps it's because there's more risk of getting it on the rubber seal?

If you don't want to risk it, those oven scraper things are the business. I remember before I discovered oven pride, I was cleaning my oven and it was hours of soaking, then elbow grease then repeat. And then my mother happened to call and when I told her what I was doing, she said to use a scraper. I borrowed hers and got it as good as new in about 20 mins, whereas hours of soaking and scrubbing had not got me far at all (to be fair the oven was a complete state).

Mould - the HG mould spray is fab and very effective on grout and mastick too

Ouroboros · 03/07/2013 20:44

We cleaned the glass in our oven door with a tesco value soap filled scourer, it hadn't been done for more than a year but just needed one of those and a bit of elbow grease.
