this is soooo sad

but I have these rolls of giftwrap and they seem to be crying out not to be stacked behind the sofa

any ideas for, perhaps, attaching them to the back of my utility cupboard door or some such?

lakeland ltd has this ridiculous bag for sale that looks like it's got a dead body in it - no ta

I know Blush. I think someone (maybe Puff?) found one for less somewhere, but I can't remember where.

yawningmonster · 01/06/2006 11:53

In one of those under bed storage things on wheels, it is the perfect length and can store both rolls and sheets in it, also have dh's old tackle box in it with gift tags, bows, tape, stickers for kids cards etc.

Laura032004 · 01/06/2006 12:53

I have one of those huge gift bags that you get at Christmas. Perfect length for all of the rolls, and I keep all my bows etc in separate plastic bags so I can find them all easily. I always keep sellotape, scissors, gift tags, bland b/day cards etc, so they're all to hand when you're in a hurry!

Love the Gift-Wrap Organiser, but I haven't got £25 to spend on one!!

MrsBadgerAvecUneVoiture · 01/06/2006 13:05

see what you mean re the Lakeland body bag!

I find if you buy a roll of expensive wrapping paper in (eg) Paperchase, they give you a special long thin carrier bag which fits about 6 rolls so I've just crammed all the other rolls into it and slung it under the stairs but would equally well hang on back of a door.

Under bed drawers are great for this if not stuffed full of travel bags, old sports kit etc etc Blush

Cards live on a bookcase between [thinks] a medical dictionary and the Rough Guides - Cancer Research do excellent blank cards with a big flower on the front for £1 that work for girl birthdays, sympathy, thanks, mother's day etc. Wouldn't be without them. Also miscellaneous wildlife photography ones.

Betterware do a bag but for some reason I can't find it on the website. £2.99 last time I looked.

Just a long roll shaped bag with a smallish section at the top for tape, ribbons etc. Holds about 6-8 full size rolls.

Cheap but effective.

scienceteacher · 01/06/2006 13:23

I store mine standing up in DD's wardrobe.

On the gift wrap front, they are currently selling mega rolls in Costco which are actually double sided - so you can get girly-neutral, and boy-neutral (not girly-boyish, unfortunately).

MadamePlatypus · 01/06/2006 16:08

I use a cheap Ikea suit cover and hang it in the wardrobe. I covet that organiser though JackieNo.

Cappucino · 01/06/2006 22:07

this is all good. particularly like Mrs Badger's suggestion. now I think of it one of my friends used to use said Paperchase bag as a toilet roll holder

also excuse to go into pretty shop

(secretly Mrs Badger you are my domestic idol. I still remember your scented airing cupboard)

If the cupboard is wide enough fix two or three cup hooks reasonably high up

Make three circle of string (all the same length)

Hang them in the string on the hooks (kinda roller blind like)??

Cheap version...maybe?

Katymac · 01/06/2006 22:16

I use the Betterware one for paper. I have one for general wrapping paper and one in the loft for the Christmas wrapping paper.

thewomanwhothoughtshewasahat · 01/06/2006 22:24

don;t you all have gift-wrapping rooms?

JackieNo · 01/06/2006 22:27

How about \link{http://www.marthastewart.com/page.jhtml?type=content&id=channel191749&catid=cat298&navLevel=3\this suggestion from Martha Stewart}?

thewomanwhothoughtshewasahat · 01/06/2006 22:37

that makes me want to rip the peg board of the wall and clart her one with it. when I'm retired and dh has all his different sized hammers and nails (in size order of course) attached to peg board in the shed, then I'll get one for my wrapping paper. In the meantime I'll just be happy having a life.

handlemecarefully · 01/06/2006 22:38

In the fitted wardrobe of one of our unused bedrooms along with loads of other stuff

Cappucino · 01/06/2006 22:39

arf hatwoman

also appreciate use of the much under-appreciated word 'clart'

busybusybee · 01/06/2006 22:39

I have ours stashed inside the loooooong stuff sack that came with our travel safety gate - works brilliantly, unlike the gate which I thought was useless :o

thewomanwhothoughtshewasahat · 01/06/2006 22:40

do you think I spelt it right? I had to stop and think Grin

Cappucino · 01/06/2006 22:46

I would have thought it was an onamatopea-style spelling of 'clout' if I had to think about it far too hard
