Protecting wooden table

I have a lovely wooden table but with kids use- varnish coming off. What do I need to do? Paint on a layer of some kind of varnish? Any suggestions? Thanks! :-)

Depends how bad the damage is. It's likely you'll need to sand it back a bit first with very gentle sandpaper.

Otherwise I think you might risk just creating dips where the scratches are. You need a level surface. Take proper advice though!

Well it actually is a level surface. No scratches. Just a paler colour where varnish rubbed away showing wood.

Anybody know which varnish I should buy or any tips? #totally clueless

Actually there is a product made by Hagesan which might improve things without you having to varnish. I'll have a look.

Hagesan Meubeline light or dark, depending on the colour of your table.
