Framing a large tablecloth

Friend gave us a beautiful handpainted tablecloth as a wedding gift - far too pretty to eat on so I would like to frame it and hang it in our bedroom.

It roughly measures 552cm x 186cm - where can I find frames of this size that don't cost the earth? Can I frame it myself, or do I need to get it professionally done due to size? Would like to do it myself if possible!

It's 5 and a half metres? Is your bedroom wall big enough?!

well, that's embarrassing Blush

It's 274cm x 186cm

Have you been watching the Apprentice?! (If you haven't that will make no sense).

Ooh that's still quite large isn't it? Doesn't sound like a DIY job to me - so much potential for wrinkling!

I have been watching it but afraid I don't get the link!

I think you're right - just worry that it'll be way out of budget and beautiful tablecloth will just collect dust at the bottom of the dresser!

When they ordered the wrong size flag!

If it's worth the investment and you will love it every day forever then get it framed. Compare it to the cost of a wall of lovely wallpaper? I bet it's similar, and you can take it with you if you move! (I can rationalise anything if I try hard enough!).

Ha x-posts!

A frame will be pricey and heavy. My recommendation would be to sew a fabric strip on the reverse along one edge so that theres a tube, and then get a curtain pole (the cafe pole type is neatest) and mount it on the wall. Then you slide the cloth onto the pole and it will hang down nicely

oh my life, just got the link - obviously not firing on all cylinders tonight!

am loving the justifications - I also thought about it taking the place of expensive wallpaper! and it would (hopefully) preserve it for longer.

The pole idea is great if framing is totally out of my price range.

I don't think you should frame it / hang it at all. Have it made into a thin, quilted bedspread, much nicer.

Oooh Mrs, that is a lovely idea!
