Mixed wash loads

My washing machine lets me select a cotton wash and a synthetic wash, I can also select the wash temp.
If I want to wash a mix of cotton and synthetics at 40 degrees what wash would be better, cotton or synthetic.
I am guessing there must be a difference between the two perhaps in how thorough the wash is. Does anyone know.

With my machine, the spin for synthetics is ever so slightly gentler; 600 RPM rather than 800 RPM for cottons and that's the only difference.

a synthetic wash is a lower spin speed.

i wash pretty much everything as a cotton wash, because the faster the spin the dryer it comes out, so takes less time to dry.

my machine spins cotton at 1400, synthetics at 900, wool 600 (i think!)

I've got a brilliant 'mixed load' programme on my machine which washes at 30 and spins at 600, wash done in 35 minutes and only uses 35 litres of water. Everything except delicates and sheets goes through that cycle.

I luffs my washing machine Grin
