Is it worth gettting a hand held steam cleaner?

Hi, I am looking to do a bit of a deeper clean over my summer holidays. My house is eight years old. I would like to deep clean the tiles and around door frames (tiny residue from concrete remains still despite all efforts of removal). The main job annoying me is in between bottom of kitchen presses and ceramic tiles, skirting boards.

I would also like to clean my car too - but not a priority.

Any recommendations would be great too.. Many Thanks.

I have a little black morphy richards one (handbag sized which you carry on your shoulder, then a hose which you hold to squirt - so you can get in quite little places)

I would say, that for the things you've mentioned it might be a good fit. It's no miracle worker (you still need to wipe), and most of the heads are useless, but with the concentrating nozzle it gets horrible, horrible stuff out from around the hob/sink/drainholes etc. I've used it to lift ground in stuff out of the carpet with great success too.

If you'd said for general cleaning I might not have recommended it - it does nothing really for limescale on shower screens etc.

I would say they're not really worth the bother.

I would tackle those bits with a toothbrush and cif or something tbh.

Hello verys.. I tried the cif and scourer and it hasn't been great. I will try again though before I buy but the morphy Richards one might do the trick.. thank you both.

Tbh I would say that if scrubbing doesn't do the trick,a steam cleaner won't either.
However they aren't without worth and if you can be bothered with the faff at least you know the things are really clean.

I paid £15 for mine and its worth every penny. Brilliant on glass, stainless steel and toilets. The steam can get where fingers, toothbrushes and cloths and scrubbing can't eg behind taps and in grooves and crevices.

Can I ask what brand is it forumd? Where did you get it? Thankd

I bought it from B&M but I know they sold them on eBay too. It isn't a big brand its a Prole. I think they are probably generic and branded for various companies. Steamers all work the same - heat water so I don't see the point of spending over the odds just for a brand name. My sister has a huge steamer with floor attachments that cost a lot of money but it's such a hassle to get out, set up and wait for the water to heat she rarely uses it. To add to that mine works as well as hers.

Just a tip that I've found works. It will probably come with a wide 'window/glass' attachment. Used on it's own I found it useless but I wrap an ecloth around it and do the shower screen with it - it's amazing, no streaks or smears and dead easy and quick.
