Keeping my newly cleaned oven clean

I have just paid lots to have my oven cleaned professionally as I'd had a go twice with oven pride but it was still horrible inside.
Its sparkling now but I know that in a week or two it will be dirty again so was wondering if anyone used roasting bags to stop fat splattering. We eat a lot of meat and as I'm a low carber it tends to be fattier cuts.
Any tips for minimising fat splatter gratefully received.
Thanks.

oven liner is brilliant for keeping the floor of your oven clean.

also actually cleaning the oven more than once a month would help but I've spectacularly managed to fail on that one Blush

Careful with oven liner if your oven has a heating element under the 'floor' of the oven. I put one there in my brand new oven and it welded itself onto the oven floorShock. I did manage to scrub it off eventually but it was very difficult and I was convinced at one point I'd ruined my new oven.

Regarding keeping it clean, I find if you do it as a small job once a week it stops it becoming an enormous manky job every few months or so.

Ok thanks will have a look at liners, not sure where the elent is tho.
I know what you're saying about doing it weekly and I always have great intentions but somehow it's never a priority. Was hoping someone would say I could cook pretty much anything in a bag and it would taste great and be clean. Just seen a pyrex roaster with a lid in Argos, wonder what that's like. Just worried that nothing would crisp up (pork crackling etc).

chewing, was that a silicone rubber lining?

ChewingOnLifesGristle · 04/06/2013 10:23

Not rubber. It was black, smooth, papery lining stuff. Looks sort of woven (sorry for Baldrick-like description thereGrin)

I've used it ok on baking sheets but oh lordy it welded itself to the floor of my oven like noting elseShock due to the element under the floor. I had to scrub it off with a steel scourer.

I don't use oven liner, dont even know what it is although I can guess. I just put a big baking tray in the bottom of the oven to catch any drips and spills, then the baking tray can be taken out and washed.

I buy the extra wide aluminium foil (the one you use for turkeys) and cover the floor of my oven. I change it weekly.

OP the pyrex top would make your food steam and it won't be as crispy.

Lakeland do the oven liner, & also a thing that you hang somehow over the door to protect the door was grease splats. I don't know if they're any good, ££ being Lakeland but they will give you your money back if you're not happy as they are v good customer service-wise.

My mil uses those bags, and her roasts are lovely, and she's super ocd about cleaning. If she does it it must be good.
