Le creuset, dishwasher or no?

Can't remember if they can or can't...

Black cast iron.

Can't find the care instructions and the web page keeps crashing.

Anyone do this and are the pans still ok?

I put mine through if they don't have wooden handles and they come out fine.

Wishiwasanheiress · 02/06/2013 09:14

Me too

Barbie1 · 02/06/2013 09:17

No wooden handles, silver ones.

Do I need to put them only on top rack?

Clueless emotion needed Blush

I don't think so - mine go on the bottom. They are pretty indestructible.

fieldfare · 02/06/2013 09:21

I don't put mine in. Always wash by hand and then oil slightly. My favourite pan got put in once by dh and then everything stuck to it. Hand wash only.

PigletJohn · 02/06/2013 09:31

I do, but it seems to take the glossy surface off so that they stick more.

After washing, rubbing the internal surface with half a drop of cooking oil on a pad of kitchen roll helps restore the polish somewhat.

Notcontent · 02/06/2013 23:20

I don't because they do get a bit damaged with time.

rainbowsprite1 · 04/06/2013 23:45

I had some I put in a dishwasher every day for approx 8 years & I can unfortunately confirm that although they seem indestructible to start with they really arent. Losing the glossy surface turns into getting small holes in a pitted surface & being a nightmare to cook with :(

spiderbabymum · 04/06/2013 23:53

Agree takes a while but dishwasher ruins their lovely cooking surface . So don't

Barbie1 · 05/06/2013 05:01

I didn't.

I chickened out and spent ages hand washing them all.

Thank you for all the input, interesting how some have been ok while others have had theirs ruined.

if washing by hand, the green scourers will clean off burnt bits without damage.

Weegiemum · 05/06/2013 12:51

Ive always dishwashered mine when I had a dishwasher. They're 18 years old, 2 casseroles and 3 pots with wooden handles. One handle has become a bit loose, but apart from that they have stood up well to it (got them in '94, got dishwasher in '98, moved and didn't have one for 6 years in 2006, moved and got one again last year).

Only think that's damaged them was letting mil hand wash one that was a bit burnt. She scraped at it and chipped the enamel, but I reckon that just lets more iron into the food!

Areyoumadorisitme · 05/06/2013 16:22

Yes we did. Wooden handles and they are 14 years old. Handles are a bit loose now and will soon need replacing (the pans not the handles sadly). I figure 12 years of not hand washing (since we got a dishwasher) is well worth it!
