Soak it in mouthwash?

superfluouscurves · 30/05/2013 21:37

I use white vinegar (white sort for cleaning - not salad sort)

CointreauVersial · 30/05/2013 21:47

I just give the pits a good rub with a Vanish stain stick before putting in the machine (the pits on the garment, I mean, although it might be tempting to use Vanish on DS's pits and stick him through a hot wash...Grin ).

I soak stinky armpit areas on tops in white vinegar (well spray with dri pak white vinegar spray until soaked through) leave for 30 mins and then wash as usual - works a treat even on DHs most minging t-shirts :) Also put a spoon or 2 of soda crystals in with the wash but don't know that that on its own would be enough.

hollyisalovelyname · 30/05/2013 23:17

Thank you. Can i use ordinary white vinegar?

Any old white vinegar will do - I just keep a spray bottle handy for household / laundry stuff. I like the dri pak one because its cheap and I can pick up big bottles in Wilkos etc

Madamecastafiore · 31/05/2013 05:51

Stick a scoop full of the green tub of vanish in your wash. No rubbing or soaking. Dh's running gear was heading for the bin but thanks to this stuff is rejuvenated.

SilveryMoon · 31/05/2013 05:59

I thought vodka neutralises it. Or am I making that up? Pretty sure I've heard that somewhere though

Alwayscheerful · 31/05/2013 06:08

Vodka is for dry clean only clothes.

Ordinary white vinegar before washing clothes.

hollyisalovelyname · 31/05/2013 07:30

Great. Thank you. Not in U. K. so no Wilkos .

Napisan. Soak then wash, don't use fabric conditioner as it holds the smell in. Stick some napisan in wash too

fishandlilacs · 31/05/2013 07:36

Bicarb works too, rub a paste of bicarb on before washing

SanityClause · 31/05/2013 07:40

Another one for white vinegar. You don't need a Wilkos. I am in the UK, and I just buy mine from the supermarket.

IDismyname · 31/05/2013 07:47

I've managed to rescue most of my gym stuff from being binned by using a scoop of an oxi action stuff in the tub before I wash.

FormerlyKnownAsPrincessChick · 31/05/2013 08:21

Think I'm causing confusion! You don't need a wilkos, or the dri pak vinegar or a spray bottle. Any white vinegar fine, just letting you know about the handy spray bottle as this makes it super easy to zap the areas you want to target and you also get quite a lot if vinegar for a £1 so it's cheap too.

HotelTangoFoxtrotUniform · 31/05/2013 08:24

Another vote for the vanish stuff with the green top (hygiene?). It sorted out some really stinky gym kit here.

Salamanger · 31/05/2013 16:10

Halo Sports Wash is great for this. I don't use it every wash, just when I start to notice smells.

HeySoulSister · 01/06/2013 13:48

where can you buy that salamanger ?

Salamanger · 05/06/2013 18:12

We get it from Sainsbury's.
