How much washing is 'one load'?

I was wondering how many of you adhere to the instructions for your washing machine with regards to how much washing you should put in for each programme? I love my machine, BUT the most frequent programme I use is the wool wash (since most of our clothes are marked with this now) and the instrucs say max 1kg of laundry on this setting. This is surprisingly little and I spend ages doing small loads. Should I try putting more in or will it just not wash well? TIA for your opinions. Smile

I go for the old "fist "rule idf you can put a clenched fist in on top of the drum full of clothes its about right.

TBH I put most delicates on a 30 deg wash but with a lower spin cycle & that works fine as I can put it on quick wash.

It depends on the washing machine. Mine washes up to 7kg.

What sort of clothes do you have that they're marked with the wool wash label? The max for a wool wash in the machine is low so that woollens don't felt or pill in the wash.

Pretty much everything I buy from M&S says wool wash, inc cotton t-shirts and jeans. Also the fashion stuff the DC wear from places like Topman often says the same. So I'm guessing a few more items in the drum isn't going to cause a laundry disaster. Thanks! Smile

Everything pretty much goes n together on a 30 wash in this house, whites and mixed darks. Tbh I never read labelsConfused

Our machine is 6 kg I think. I just fill the drum.

Very little gets washed on a wool wash, only sweaters.

Sheets and towels at 60.

I do things by colour usually with the odd thing going in on a v short delicate wash. Everything else I do on 40/50/60 and usually loosely fill the drum though I have been known to cram it in

I, er, shove everything in until I can comfortably close the door. Then wash at 30 or 40 for towels etc.

I have found m&s clothes say the same. I think they just tell you to wash it like that because the materials are not great that they use but i put therm on a normal wash.
