Storage - where do I put all the rubbish!

We have a three bed house but no storage!

I am struggling to store towels and bedding neatly - at the moment it's hung in a wardrobe.

Toys are a night mare- I think we have just too many but with dc2 on the way I am reluctant to get rid of any. These are currently stored in the ikea square units.

Please can you share your storage tips! Or your declutter. Tips?

My house is doing my head in! And I have no space to move!

I would declutter the toys a bit. You'll end up with more once you have DC2 and if you have too many you'll be in an even worse situation. If you have a loft or somewhere to hide a box of toys in, you can just keep some toys out and swap them now and then.

I think fitted wardrobes and cupboards are an efficient way of storing stuff if you can have them.

We have beds with drawers in and the clean bedding is in the drawers. Also, do you have more towels than you need? We keep ours in a blanket box. It used to be slightly overfull but I realised we had too many and by getting rid of some I was able to fit spare blankets in there too.

I've never manage to have enough storage space but I've just decluttered and decluttered and kept on decluttering.Smile I never miss anything that I give away.

I have the same sort of thing in my house.

Do you have an under stair cupboard? I have one with shelving and these to make extra space (I inherited the shelves so I didn't get to choose how far apart the all were).

I de-clutter ruthlessly, I got rid of loads of old bedding a while ago, toys get lent out (if I can) to friends when they are too small for the older DC's but I know the younger one will need them later on. Same with baby clothes, a friend took a huge pile off my hands when she needed and then passed them back for my youngest.

Toys are kept in bedroom in those plastic trug things that you can buy in garden centers.

My main thing is though that I am a bit obsessive about not keeping stuff that I don't need. I even got rid of a load of books and got a kindle, that made room for loads of jigsaws, crayons, colouring books, childrens books etc. CD's are all i-tunes and I buy downloads instead of getting DVD's.

Just to add, my top tip is don't buy the stuff in the first place! It's so much easier than trying to persuade your DC to get rid of something they own or having to deal with your own unnecessary purchases.

Agree chuck the toys out. People will only buy more for your second child anyway.

We very very rarely buy toys for ds - he gets so much at birthdays and Christmas, he really doesn't need anything else. Oh and if you have a toy library near you, they can be really useful too.

Thank you! After my impending planned homebirth I will chuck the towels!

Toys... I think I am going to have a sort out. Cuddly toys are the devil I think.

Our wardrobes are fitted but we have small rooms so its clothes in the wardrobes/chest of drawers!

Our loft is a conversion into a study for work. It's cramme full of baby stuff... Once it's been used its all going I hope!
