Do I need to pull kitchen tiles up before putting Lino down?

I have several cracked or chipped kitchen tiles, and have decided to put Lino down instead. Do I have to pull up all the tiles, or can I just polyfiller up the gaps.

I know Lino's not to everyone's taste, but its cheap, and I can have it put down while the kids are out.

We have a kitchen/diner, so it's a fairly big area.

I think it depends if you are after a quick fix which you know will need to be replaced in a couple of years - or if you are after something more long lasting.

I think the risks is it shortens the life of the lino to put it over tiles. But if you are OK with that...

You should because otherwise the lino over time will show the indentations of the tile patterns/gaps between tiles and it's possible that the substances in the tiles/grout could react with the lino and discolour it. If it's a small area and you are happy to replace the lino if this happens, then go ahead.
