DH tells me that when he comes home he is going to give a tutorial on putting washing on the line. He thinks he is being very helpful, I have been doing the job for 30 years so obviously I think I am managing OK. However he has now put doubt in my mind. What do you think is the CORRECT way?

Yes, he's a washy fucker alright. My DH is a tumble drier fucker and now banned from doing the washing

superbagpuss you have no idea how glad I am that someone else makes sure that pegs match.

Pegs definately have to match - by colour AND type Smile

Mumsnet collective sanity yet again.

I do so much washing I'm a dab hand at hanging out. I use 3 pegs for 2 tops, 4 pegs for 3 tops etc
Bottoms from bottoms, tops from bottom and I have a large rotary so trousers, pants etc go towards the middle so I can get a good run of tops along the longer edges meaning I use less pegs.

GibberTheMonkey · 18/05/2013 18:21

Oh and the best pegs are the best pegs are the recycled ones that come in green and yellow. No rotting wood, no rusty metal and doesn't take much to find a matching colour peg

GibberTheMonkey · 18/05/2013 18:25

these pegs

I bought a couple of packets of matching pegs - to save me time finding matching pegs when hanging out the washing Grin

MarianForrester · 18/05/2013 18:39

Tops from the bottom, bottoms from the top here too.

And pegs must match.

And items shouldn't be hung half folded over line, iykwim.

starfishmummy · 20/05/2013 23:41

Does anyone else do this - with light stuff such as her tights, my mum always put a peg at the bottom too so that they didn't blow about so much.

AdoraBell · 21/05/2013 02:53

I've never matched pegs in my life. I'm quite proud of thatGrin

Jux · 21/05/2013 03:40

There is no correct way, but there are as many preferred ways as there are people.

I would tell him that if he hangs the washing out it'll be done how he wants it.

Er.....that's it.

mrssprout · 21/05/2013 04:09

I think my DH hangs it wrong, but I also think if he is hanging it & I don't need to then I don't really care Grin
