Laundry fail

I washed the Where's Wally Wenda tights that I was cussing about elsewhere on Mon and they have sent my laundry load pink. It was already pink or red, but with some white trim. Dd's new gingham school dress has a pink collar now.

Will colour-run remover work,or is that only good on whites?

I am such a fusspot, re. laundry sorting, as I can't stand the grey 'I can't sort by colour' look. I hate it when I get caught out.

I'm very sorry but I have no good news from here. I too am a laundry sorting fusspost. From my experience once that's happened there's no return.

I would bin and replace and forget. If you keep it it'll make you seethe everytime you see it. (I know I would)

If the dress is the only casualty you've got off lightly. Celebrate that instead

Try not to take it out on the tights!! (and handwash them seperately next time)

I think colour run remover should work - particularly if dd's dress is polycotton rather than 100% cotton.

Do you secretly and harshly judge people who are too feckless to sort? I do.

Bought some colour-run things today, so will try them tomorrow. Dress is poly cotton, but it has a jersey-type collar (like polo shirts), which I fear will turn out to be cotton.

I don't judge others (openly) Ahh on consideration maybe I do - I do notice - as I am full of admiration when I say spot a bright or dark top with white white sleeves for example. I do shudder in horror at the thought of grubby not white whites!! My friend once borrowed a baby popper vest from me. She kindly washed it for me. It was no longer white I tried not to notice (maybe I was imagining it) but I could see it glaring out at me from my pile of other white whites. I had to bin it in the end!! It was just too much to bear.

Good luck - I will be checking on you - I love a laundry story (not rubbing my hands in gleeful excitement at all)

NB there are about 6 items that permenantly live at the bottom of my laundry basket - the white sleeve/collar brigade. I believe ds has now grown out of them.

I never buy anything without considering how to wash it - that's an age thing isn't it?

run remover may well work, it took denim blue out of pale lemon towelling cardigan and leggings.

As for the school dress I wouldn't worry. They never stay clean. My horrors always covered theirs in white board pen and nothing shifts that.

Well, I used the colour run sachets and the affected items are now considerably less pink than they were, so I'm impressed.

Not in my experience I'm afraid Kickarsequeen and, as my mother so flatteringly said to me (maybe the highest compliment she's ever paid me) "You're good with stains"

My trusty Vanish bar sorts most things but I'm afraid I never got ds's whiteboard pen out and he used to be covered in it in reception - front and back

Whiteboard pen - when fresh can sometimes be removed by dabbing with an alcohol based solvent (eg meths or surgical spirit or even vodka in desperation!). Put a pad of clean kitchen paper underneath to absorb stain and dab rather than rub to avoid spreading it! Repeat with fresh pad and solvent until as much is removed as possible. Then was as normal!

"considerably less pink" sounds good!

I'm told hairspray works to lift whiteboard pen.

Soak it in a sink full of cold water and loads of napisan overnight. That works when im trying to sort out DHs mishaps
