Welcome to the May Fledgling FLYers thread! :-)
... where we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system (in our own, unique, relaxed style) with lots of and chatting along the way.

This little-and-often system is designed so that we can follow a series of steps and routines each day (which gradually become second nature) in weekly designated zones of the house; defining and minimising housework - which in theory should leave us with more time to do other, more interesting things instead!

At the same time it is intended to reduce that panicky "rabbit in headlights" feeling we get when we are overwhelmed and everything needs doing all at once.

To avoid being inundated with details, we advise not signing up to the Big Tent.

We are in the process of following Flylady's steps and routines using a three-pronged approach (dependent on the stage everyone is at):

  • start or repeat baby steps
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone
  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.
[And if you are really enthusiastic and have finished decluttering - you can go on to detailed deep cleaning in each zone.]

Flylady site is here

Don't worry if you are behind; just jump right back in and it will all come around next month again anyway!

All the links for the babysteps and missions will be posted here every day and we'll all be here to cheer each other on. Thanks to SC, Blue, Silvery and Goth for leading us through since January and for the brilliant OP I've just cut and pasted.

So shocked that got the Shock wrong Blush

GoingGoingGoth · 23/05/2013 10:46

Ok this is my last post on MN & FB this morning, I am going to shift my lardy arse (once I've moved the cat)

Please slap me if I'm spotted again before 7 o'clock tonight.

ToffeeWhirl · 23/05/2013 11:16

Am a very bad fledgling.

Sad
CHBitchy · 23/05/2013 11:21

don't tell anyone but so I am. There is a reason why there is a bar in the naughty corner remember Wink

ToffeeWhirl · 23/05/2013 12:13

Is it open now?

BlueEyeshadow · 23/05/2013 12:13

Joins Toffee and Bitchy in the naughty corner. Have frittered away the morning on the pooter and done neither flying nor anything else productive either.

Taking a small bag to the charity shop after lunch out with DS2 and doing the Aldi shop so at least that's errands day.

CHBitchy · 23/05/2013 12:20

Hell yes. Been open a while. Meeting with school later and tbh I am dreading it.

Done some laundry
Did a bit of folding
paired a few socks
eaten the bread
made a to do list

bloody freezing today. Can't get warm. At all. So so so cold. Really lacking any motivation. done fuck all on my room which was going to be my target for today. really really cba!!

ToffeeWhirl · 23/05/2013 12:33

Good luck with the school meeting, CHB. Sympathies on the CBA feelings. Maybe you need to just do 15 minutes with a timer?

Blue - it's terrifying how the computer eats up time. Well done on decluttering and doing errands though.

Am attempting to do Maths with DS1. He is so uninterested and unmotivated that it makes it really, really hard for me and drags it all out unnecessarily.

CHBitchy · 23/05/2013 12:47

Is there a way to integrate the maths principles into something he is interested in? Thus making it more applied and interesting. Maths can be pretty dry if it doesn't interest you.

I am not even sure I know what I want from this meeting anymore. Other then for it to be other with

DorisShutt · 23/05/2013 12:54

Quick update:

  • Empty D/W
  • Sort a load of washing
  • Lay away dry washing
  • Strip and wash spare bed & guest towels
  • Apply for holiday credit card
  • Stick a rocket up DH to get him to cancel old credit cards
  • Trip to supermarket
  • Toddler admin; combined with trip to soft play

Not terribly inspiring Blush, but better than I'd anticipated.

Planning to curl up on sofa with film, cosy blanket and lunch while DS naps. Does that mean I get to hide in the naughty bar?! Grin

CHBitchy · 23/05/2013 13:04

Hell yes. come join us!

ToffeeWhirl · 23/05/2013 13:18

CHB - We are working out the cost of caring for a cat. Can't get more relevant and personal to him! He is just being a little bugger not trying. Anyway, we managed to get through it after I threatened to remove his XBox if he didn't finish it Grin.

DorisShutt · 23/05/2013 13:19
CHBitchy · 23/05/2013 14:15

Oh the little toad. Well played toffee hit him in the xbox where it hurts.

Oooo Doris naughty treats for the naughty corner bar. the luxury.

Meeting done. Now the follow up. where the fuck did I put that important paperwork?

ToffeeWhirl · 23/05/2013 16:34

Yes, he was definitely pushing all the boundaries today, CHB Angry. Funny how he overcame his tiredness/illness/general whinginess once he realised I was serious about the XBox. Sending him back to school does seem a very attractive option suddenly Grin.

Castlelough · 23/05/2013 16:46

Ooh naughty corner is busy!!! Gonna take a nap there for a bit before putting on the dinner. Had an unexpected visitor last night and managed to make kitchen/sitting room tidy but not particularly clean

Blinding pressure headache behind my left eye. DH has bravely volunteered to do bedtime solo whe I do things downstairs with one eye shut. Makes typing interesting. Grin

Can't see much of a plan this evening but most of my list did get done, barring the guest bed.

I can hear chaos ensuing upstairs so may need to intervene... On the other hand, part of me is having a private smirk that DS is finally doing to DH what he does to me all day. I'm an evil woman

ToffeeWhirl · 23/05/2013 18:59

Definitely leave them to it, Doris Grin. Hope you feel better soon.

SilveryMoon · 23/05/2013 19:56

Big
Sorry for absence, just having a bad week etc. Nothing wrong, so don't worry, just need the half-term!
Will be back on form soon, I imagine.
Take care everyone, 'see' you all soon

Evening everyone,

I am planning on taking it easy this evening. I discovered last week that I?m pregnant! I?m only 5 weeks, though, and it is very hard going after the previous two miscarriages. I?m doing my best to distract myself as much as possible!

Dinner dishes are washed up. (How is it that I manage to use so many pots and pans to create dinner???? Have I mentioned that I can NOT wait to have a dishwasher, whenever we move into our new house?!)

To do: relax, some knitting, early night! Smile

Silvery It is lovely to see you! I was wondering where you had absconded to ?and was worried that my lack of efficiency had driven you away?!

Doris I hope your headache eases up soon [hug].

Bitchy, Toffee , Doris and Blue have been holing up in the naughty corner bar with treats! And ladies don?t be too hard on yourselves ? you are all wonderful fledglings! Bitchy I had been thinking of knitting a wooly hugs blanket too. I might make it a summer holidays project for myself! Thanks for reminding me of it?.

Goth has been very disciplined with her screen time today!

Pushme Thanks for volunteering for leading the thread in June. I think it is safe to say that the standards have been lowered this month!!!!! So hopefully it won?t be too daunting! Grin

SC I hope you aren?t missing DD and DH too much. Bad timing that DH has to be away too. Sometimes a little time by yourself can be really nice though? hope you can make the most of it Smile.

Waves to everyone else!

pushmepullyou · 23/05/2013 21:50

I think it is safe to say that next month will not see a resurgence in standards Grin

I am properly knackered today, which doesn't happen that often to me.

Sister's wedding on Saturday which will see me in a stunning (!) green chiffin calf length bridesmaid dress with an elasticated waist. Not ideal for those of us with less than whittled waists!

At least on Sunday I can eat again Grin

NarkyNamechanger · 23/05/2013 21:53

Congratulations castle :)

That's fab! Brew for you!

pushmepullyou · 23/05/2013 21:54

Huge congratulations castle Flowers

Those early weeks are so nerve-wracking, particularly when you've had previous m/c. Wishing you an uneventful pregnancy and a beautiful snuggly (and sleepy) newborn baby approximately 9 months from now not broody at all oh no

Now lie on the sofa and eat cake Grin
